Abortion syndrome

Abortion syndrome

With the advancement of medical technology, abortion techniques are becoming more and more mature. However, because each woman faces different problems, some women may experience more obvious adverse reactions when having an abortion. This is also related to women having multiple abortions, so they will show some uncomfortable symptoms, which is generally defined as abortion syndrome clinically. So what is abortion syndrome?

1. Artificial abortion syndrome is caused by mechanical stimulation of the cervix and uterus, which causes vagus nerve reflex. Patients may experience bradycardia, heart rhythm disorder, low blood pressure, pale complexion, sweating, dizziness, chest tightness, and some may even experience fainting or convulsions. In this case, 0.5-1 mg of atropine can be injected intravenously immediately to effectively control abortion syndrome. It is recommended to give the patient spiritual comfort before the operation, be as gentle as possible during the operation, and do not use violence when dilating the uterus, so as to avoid the occurrence of abortion syndrome. In addition, since the advent of painless abortion, abortion syndrome has rarely occurred.

2. The uterus is a pelvic organ. In addition to being controlled by plant water and autonomic nerves, it also has a rich distribution of sensory nerves. The nerve endings in the cervical segment are more sensitive. During artificial abortion surgery, the cervix is stretched and expanded, and the negative pressure formed on the uterine wall stimulates the nerve endings distributed in these areas. It is through the self-regulation of the nervous system that no pregnancy can be achieved. However, there are a few pregnant women who have poor autonomic nerve stability and enhanced vagus nerve self-reactivity, which releases a large amount of acetylcholine in the body, causing coronary artery spasm, weakened myocardial contractility, and reduced cardiac output, resulting in the above series of manifestations.

3. It should be noted that multiple artificial abortions or careless operation are more likely to damage the cervix, resulting in rupture of cervical muscles and fibers and formation of scars, which often leads to difficult-to-cure habitual abortions. Multiple induced abortions can open the door to bacterial invasion due to excessive dilation, which can cause endometritis or salpingitis in mild cases and pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility in severe cases. Even if the fertilized egg implants, the damage to the endometrium caused by multiple scrapings will affect the implantation of the placenta and cause placental blood circulation disorders, leading to fetal hypoxia and growth retardation, and increasing the mortality rate of premature babies and neonates.
