Frequent urination and urgency are common to everyone. Some women obviously feel that the frequency of their urination has increased, and the cause naturally becomes the most concerning thing. So, why do girls have frequent and urgent urination? Let’s take a look at it below. 1. Nonspecific infection 1. Urethritis (1) Nonspecific infection is mainly caused by Escherichia coli. (2) Acute symptoms mainly include frequent urination, urgency, inability to hold urine, pain when urinating, purulent discharge from the urethral orifice, redness and swelling of the urethral orifice, and tenderness to touch. Urinalysis may reveal pyuria and bacteriuria. (3) The diagnosis can be established based on symptoms, clinical symptoms, routine urine examination, and acid-fast staining of secretions. 2. Cystitis (1) The disease is mainly caused by Escherichia coli infection, which often occurs during sexual intercourse. (2) Urethral irritation symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, inability to hold urine, and painful urination are obvious, but systemic symptoms are mild. When the bladder trigone is inflamed, gross hematuria may occur, and there may be discomfort on the toes and in the lower back. During the examination, there was tenderness in the bladder area of the lower abdomen. (3) Urine examination revealed pyuria and bacteriuria, but kidney function was normal. 2. Reproductive tract infection 1. Gonococcal urethritis (1) Female gonorrhea first attacks the cervical mucosa, then spreads and may also attack the bladder mucosa and cause urethral symptoms. The critical period is 2-5 days. (2) Acute symptoms include frequent urination, urgency, inability to hold urine, painful urination, and purulent discharge from the urethra. In more serious cases, the entire urinary system may be affected, and secondary acute pelvic inflammatory disease may occur. (3) The key to diagnosis is to find intracellular gonococci through acid-fast staining. 2. Non-gonococcal urethritis (1) If it is caused by mycoplasma or ureaplasma urealyticum, the risk period is longer, with an average of 2 weeks. (2) The clinical manifestations are milder than those of gonorrhea, and may include discomfort during urination, pain during urination, mild urinary frequency and urgency, and little purulent secretion from the urethral orifice, which can be easily ignored. (3) Acid-fast staining of the sample for fluorescence immunoassay or pathogen modeling can be used for diagnosis. 3. Atrophic diseases of the urogenital system 1. Urethral prolapse (1) Part of the urethral mucosa slips away and becomes cystic. All slippage is ring-shaped with wrinkled walls on the surface. Some parts may be secondarily infected, aggravating the urethral foot disease. (2) Related to factors such as birth trauma, recession, and increased intra-abdominal pressure. 2. Urethra caruncle (1) There are bright red growths with a diameter of 0.5 to 1.0 cm on the mucosa of the external urethral opening. The surface is smooth and red, with or without a pedicle. There is pain and discomfort during urination. (2) Often associated with low estrogen levels, diffuse irritation, inflammation, or damage. 3. Bladder urethritis in the elderly (1) Postmenopausal women have low estrogen levels, thin bladder and urethral membranes, and may experience frequent urination, urgency, and difficulty holding urine. (2) Urinalysis examination showed nothing wrong. 4. Female urethral syndrome 1. Recurrent frequent urination, urgent urination, inability to hold urine, and painful urination, which may be accompanied by pain during sexual intercourse, lower abdominal pain, and pain when bending over. The disease often develops subacutely due to fatigue, oliguria, and sexual intercourse. 2. The disease is caused by a variety of factors (1) Recurrent lower urinary tract infections due to urethral diseases, such as urethral caruncle (cystic growths at the urethral opening), urethral diverticulum (resulting from repeated infection, cystic enlargement, and rupture of the urethral opening due to the glandular ducts around the urethral opening), and urethral hymen umbrella (the broken old hymen forms an umbrella shape over the external urethral opening). Abnormalities may be found during gynecological examination or cystoscopy. (2) Neurogenic bladder: The detrusor dilation function of the bladder is unbalanced, and no significant abnormalities are found in laboratory tests. (3) Due to physiological and anatomical abnormalities, the distance between the urethral opening and the vaginal opening is too close (less than 1 cm), which causes recurrence of urethral irritation symptoms after sexual intercourse. |
