What should women prepare for abortion?

As life continues to progress, more and more people are becoming more open-minded. Many single young men and women always start enjoying sex too early. However, if they are not careful, it is easy to get pregnant. Many women will choose to have an abortion, but an abortion is very harmful to women's bodies. You must be fully prepared. Let's take a look at what women should prepare for an abortion.

What should women prepare for abortion?

You should avoid sexual intercourse within one week before an abortion, take a shower and change clothes one day before the operation, and avoid catching a cold. You need to fast and not drink water for four hours before surgery. However, it should be noted that women with acute or chronic systemic diseases or severe heart, liver, or kidney damage, or women with acute or chronic reproductive system inflammation are not suitable for abortion.

Do not eat or drink some sugar water on the morning of surgery. If the body temperature exceeds 37.5℃, surgery should be performed on another day. During the operation, you should cooperate closely with the doctor and don't be overly nervous.

First, do a B-ultrasound at a local professional gynecological hospital to check how long you have been pregnant and whether you are suitable for a painless abortion (the bladder needs to be filled before the B-ultrasound). You must be on an empty stomach before the operation, and you cannot not eat anything at all. Just eat a small amount of white porridge. Also bring a piece of clothing with you to wear when you leave the hospital to prevent you from catching a cold, and also remember to bring a sanitary napkin.

Step 1: Don’t joke with your life, choose a regular hospital

The equipment needed for an abortion operation in a regular hospital include: disposable consumables used in the operation, negative pressure aspirator, B-ultrasound, ECG monitor, anesthesia machine, ventilator, etc., while painless abortion requires anesthesia, so anesthetic drugs are also included.

Step 2: Choose the right abortion method

The requirements for gestational time for artificial abortion are more relaxed than those for medical abortion, and it is suitable for termination of pregnancy at 6-12 weeks.

The amount of bleeding in artificial abortion is less than that in medical abortion, and the uterine bleeding time is shorter than that in medical abortion. Generally, the bleeding will stop within 10 days after the operation. However, it also has disadvantages: there is a possibility of complications of artificial abortion surgery, including incomplete aspiration, missed aspiration, uterine perforation, cervical laceration, postoperative infection, intraoperative and postoperative bleeding, abortion syndrome, cervical and intrauterine adhesions, menstrual disorders, etc.

Artificial abortion can be divided into two types: ordinary abortion and painless abortion according to the different anesthesia methods during the operation. The surgical procedure is the same, except that painless abortion uses anesthetics (intravenous analgesia) during the operation, while traditional abortion only uses local anesthesia. The anesthetic effects are different: local anesthesia can only relieve pain, while intravenous anesthetics can achieve a completely painless effect.

From the perspective of surgery, the populations that are suitable and prohibited for both are the same, but it is still necessary to understand the specific blood routine results and then decide when to use which surgical method based on the doctor's advice.

Step 3: Choose the right time for surgery

The best time for abortion is within 6-8 weeks of pregnancy. If the pregnancy is too short, the embryo will be too small, which may lead to incomplete abortion. If the pregnancy is too long and the fetus is too large, the operation time will be prolonged, bleeding will increase, and the trauma to the patient will be significantly increased.

Step 4: Make adequate preparations before surgery

Sexual intercourse is prohibited three days before and one month after abortion. Those with vaginal inflammation need to be cured before surgery, otherwise it is easy for the infection to spread, resulting in serious consequences such as pelvic inflammatory disease and adnexitis. If you choose painless abortion, you should fast for 8 hours before the operation.

Step 5: Postoperative conditioning should be appropriate

You should rest for two weeks after the abortion. It is not suitable to engage in strenuous physical activities and heavy mental work. You cannot take a bath or swim within one month after the operation, and avoid eating ginseng, deer antlers, etc. After surgery, the body's resistance decreases, so attention should be paid to local hygiene to prevent infection. You should take precautions against pregnancy within six months after surgery to allow the uterus to recover better.

1. Patients should abstain from sexual intercourse within 1 week before deciding to have an abortion.

2. Patients should take a bath and change clothes one day before surgery, but should be careful to avoid catching a cold as much as possible.

3. The patient must fast for 6 hours on the morning of the painless abortion to avoid respiratory complications during the operation and ensure the safety of your operation.

4. Patients need to take cervical softening drugs as prescribed by the doctor before surgery.

5. If the patient encounters the following conditions, he or she is temporarily not suitable for painless abortion surgery.

A. Patients who have previously suffered from genital inflammation (such as vaginitis, urethritis, severe cervical erosion, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc.) can undergo surgery only after treatment;

B. The patient's body temperature was above 37.5℃ twice within 4 hours before surgery;

C. There are also patients who have acidosis caused by severe vomiting of pregnancy but have not yet received treatment.

What to prepare for an abortion is a question that many women are concerned about. Only with adequate preparation can you avoid being in a rush during the abortion operation. First of all, you should choose a regular specialist hospital. Secondly, you should plan the abortion method in advance according to your pregnancy time and physical health condition, so that it is easier to prepare mentally in advance. In addition, try to do it within 6-8 weeks of pregnancy. In addition, try not to have sex before the operation, and prepare personal items such as sanitary napkins and spare underwear. After the operation, you should also pay attention to physical maintenance and rest more.
