How long does it take for the uterus to completely close after a normal birth?

From the beginning of pregnancy, women's uterus undergoes the greatest changes. After giving birth, the pregnant woman's uterus needs to go through a period of repair before it can return to its pre-pregnancy size.

1. After giving birth, women will have lochia discharged from the vagina. The various manifestations of postpartum lochia also represent the recovery of the pregnant woman's uterus. Under normal circumstances, postpartum lochia will clear 4-6 weeks after delivery, and the confinement period for women is 6 weeks after giving birth. The body of a pregnant woman will be fully repaired during the confinement period, and the woman's uterus will also recover during this period. If the duration of postpartum lochia exceeds 42 days, it is considered abnormal.

2. If a woman's lochia has not cleared up 42 days after giving birth, it is a sign of poor uterine contractions. If the lochia after delivery also shows a change in color and smell, it is very likely that there is a uterine disease, such as poor uterine contractions caused by placental retention, and uterine bacterial infection.

Generally speaking, if a woman recovers normally after childbirth, the uterus will contract at the latest around 42 days, and the sign is that lochia no longer appears. If the lochia has not cleared up at this time, it means that the uterus is not repaired well.
