What are the causes of intrinsic endometriosis?

Intrinsic endometriosis is one of the common diseases among modern women. Once the disease occurs, it will directly lead to infertility in women, and the harm caused to women is extremely serious. However, many women do not know how intrinsic endometriosis is formed. Below, let’s see how experts explain it.

What are the causes of intrinsic endometriosis?

Under normal circumstances, the endometrium covers the surface of the uterine cavity. If, due to certain factors, the endometrium grows in other parts of the body, it can become endometriosis.

Intrinsic endometriosis, the endometrium grows from the base to the myometrium and is confined to the uterus, so it is also called adenomyosis. Ectopic endometrium is often diffused throughout the entire uterine muscle wall. The invasion of the endometrium causes reactive hyperplasia of fibrous tissue and muscle fibers, causing the uterus to swell uniformly, but rarely does it exceed the size of a full-term fetal head. Uneven or focal distribution is usually more common on the posterior wall. Because it is confined to a part of the uterus, it often causes the uterus to enlarge irregularly, resembling uterine fibroids. The cross-section shows that the proliferating muscle tissue also has a whirlpool-like structure similar to that of a tumor, but there is no capsule-like tissue that separates the normal muscle fibers on all four sides as in a tumor. There is a softening area in the center of the lesion, and occasionally scattered small cavities containing a small amount of old blood can be seen. The endometrial glands seen under microscopy are the same as those of the endometrium, and are surrounded by endometrial stroma on all sides. The ectopic endometrium changes with the menstrual cycle, but the changes in the secretory phase are not obvious, indicating that the ectopic endometrial glands are less affected by progesterone.

The above is the explanation of "What are the causes of intrinsic endometriosis?" Experts say that female infertility is extremely harmful to the family. Therefore, women should pay attention to their physical condition in daily life, check their bodies regularly, and prevent intrinsic endometriosis starting with their own lifestyle habits.
