Diagram of stitches for normal delivery

Many women have concerns when they are pregnant. I don't know whether natural birth or caesarean section is better. In fact, everyone does not need to worry too much, because during delivery, the doctor will choose according to the woman's personal physical fitness and physical condition. Many women hope to have a natural birth, but are worried about the need for stitches during delivery. So do sutures generally have to be done after a normal birth? Do sutures need to be removed surgically after a normal birth?

The episiotomy sutures for normal delivery are performed after the fetus and embryo are completely delivered. Generally, a step-by-step suture is used, from the female private mucosa - subcutaneous tissue - skin. In the first two sutures, absorbable sutures are generally used. For the outermost sutures, both absorbable and non-absorbable sutures can be used. If non-absorbable sutures are used, surgical removal of the sutures is required before hospitalization.

Therefore, whether a pregnant woman needs surgery to remove stitches after an episiotomy depends on the selection of the most superficial surgical sutures. The skin outside the episiotomy wound during normal delivery is sutured with silk sutures, and the wound usually heals in five or six days and is surgically removed. The wound inside the woman's private parts is sutured with catgut, which is quickly absorbed by the body and does not remain in the woman's private parts, so it does not need to be removed.

Absorbable surgical sutures are surgical sutures placed inside body wounds that can be absorbed by the body on their own without the need for surgical suture removal. Medical gut sutures are divided into two types: ordinary gut sutures and chromium gut sutures, both of which are absorbable. The length of time required for digestion and absorption depends on the size of the intestinal thread and the condition of its tissue. It usually takes 6-20 days to be completely digested and absorbed.

In the above content, we have introduced in detail the professional knowledge about choosing sutures for normal delivery. Therefore, we understand that stitches are generally necessary when choosing natural childbirth. However, there are a few women who have a perfect delivery and do not need stitches at this time. Finally, I still recommend that everyone exercise more often, pay attention to a healthy diet, prevent the fetus from being too large, and create favorable conditions for choosing a normal birth.
