What are the symptoms of acute pelvic inflammation?

We all know that no matter whether the illness is serious or minor, it will have a negative impact on the patient's body and mind. Acute pelvic inflammatory disease also causes some adverse symptoms to patients and causes a lot of inconvenience to their daily life. So, what are the symptoms of acute pelvic inflammation? In fact, we should pay more attention to the maintenance and changes of our own bodies in our daily lives. Once we find some abnormalities, we must go to the hospital for a check-up as soon as possible to see what the cause is.

1. The clinical manifestations may vary depending on the severity and scope of the inflammation. When the disease occurs, there is lower abdominal distension and pain accompanied by fever. If the condition is serious, there may be shivering, high fever, headache, and loss of appetite. During menstrual periods, the disease may cause increased menstrual flow and prolonged menstruation, while during non-menstrual periods, the disease may cause increased leucorrhea. If there is peritonitis, digestive system symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, etc. will appear. If cysts are caused, there may be lumps in the lower abdomen and symptoms of local compression and irritation. If the lump is located in the front, bladder irritation symptoms may occur, such as difficulty urinating, urgency and frequency of urination. If it leads to cystomyositis, there will continue to be pain when urinating. Only when the lump is located posteriorly will there be symptoms of duodenal irritation. If it is located retroperitoneally, it can cause diarrhea, a feeling of anal prolapse, and difficulty in defecation. The clinical manifestations vary depending on the infected bacteria.

2. Fever, shivering, persistent pain in the lower abdomen, and resistance to pressure. Or there is lower back pain. Routine physical examination: widespread tenderness in the lower abdomen, with muscle restlessness. When the inflammation invades the pelvic retroperitoneum, the abdominal pain is severe and there is rebound pain. These symptoms usually appear 7-14 days after infection.

3. Especially after the symptoms of pelvic abscess are obvious, it is still necessary to distinguish it from other acute abdomen to avoid neglecting treatment. Such acute abdomen include acute appendicitis (appendiceal abscess, peritonitis), tubal pregnancy abortion, ruptured capillaries, ovarian cyst pedicle torsion or rupture, etc.

Causes of acute pelvic inflammatory disease

1. Infection of the reproductive system: A history of unclean sexual life, early sexual life, many sexual partners, and excessive sexual life can cause the invasion of germs that infect the reproductive system and lead to pelvic inflammation. The common pathogens are Neisseria gonorrhoeae, mycoplasma positive, or combined with aerobic bacteria and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection.

2. Infection after gynecological minimally invasive surgery: When performing abortion, IUD insertion or removal, fallopian tube hydrotubation, angiography, uterine polypectomy, or submucosal uterine myoma removal, if the sterilization is not strict or there is original inflammation of the urogenital system, postoperative infection may occur. Some patients do not pay attention to daily cleaning after surgery, or do not follow the doctor's instructions after surgery and have sexual intercourse, which can also increase the infection of pathogens and lead to pelvic inflammatory disease.

3. Not paying attention to hygiene during menstruation: During menstruation, the endometrium is shed, the blood sinuses in the uterine body expand and open, and coagulation function groups exist, which are good conditions for the growth of pathogens. If you do not pay attention to hygiene during your menstrual period, use sanitary napkins or hand towels that do not meet product quality standards, or have sexual intercourse, it will provide pathogens with the opportunity to reverse infection and cause pelvic inflammatory disease.

4. The anatomical and physiological characteristics of the female urinary system are that it has a relatively complete natural defense function, which enhances the defense against infection. Although there are some bacteria in the vagina of healthy women, they do not cause inflammation. However, when the natural defense function of the female urinary system is damaged, or the body's immune function is weakened, endocrine changes occur, or exogenous bacteria invade, it will lead to the occurrence of inflammation.

Since acute pelvic inflammatory disease can easily become chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and affect women's physical and mental health, once it is discovered, immediate and effective treatment should be given.
