More common symptoms:

(1) Abnormal uterine bleeding: It is the most critical symptom of the anterior wall of uterine fibroids and occurs in more than half of the patients.

(2) Abdominal masses and compression symptoms: Uterine fibroids grow slowly. When they enlarge the uterus to more than the size of a three-month pregnant uterus or become large subserosal fibroids located at the bottom of the uterus, a mass can often be felt in the abdomen, which is more obvious in the morning when the bladder is full.

(3) Pain: Generally, uterine fibroids do not cause pain, but many patients may complain of a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen and soreness in the waist.

(5) Menstrual changes: the most common symptom. Large intramural fibroids expand the total area of the uterine cavity and endometrium, resulting in poor uterine contraction or excessive endometrial hyperplasia, which can lead to shortened cycle time, increased menstrual volume, prolonged menstrual duration, irregular vaginal bleeding, etc. Cervical fibroids often present with excessive menstruation, and as the uterine fibroids grow larger, the menstrual period becomes longer. Once uterine fibroids become necrotic, ulcerated, or infected, there will be persistent or irregular vaginal bleeding or thick bloody discharge.

(6) Anemia: Long-term menorrhagia or irregular vaginal bleeding can cause hemorrhagic anemia. More severe anemia is common in patients with submucosal uterine fibroids.
