The uterus descends from its normal position along the vagina, the external cervical opening reaches below the level of the ischial spine, or even the entire uterus slips out of the vaginal opening, which is called uterine prolapse. Uterine prolapse is often accompanied by protrusion of the anterior and posterior vaginal walls.

The earliest materials on the use of acupuncture to treat uterine prolapse appeared in the mid-to-late 1950s [1]. There were many related reports at that time. In the 1960s, ear acupuncture was also used to treat this disease [2]. Since the late 1970s, the Mang needle method has been used in the treatment of uterine prolapse. Through a large number of practical activities, not only the acupuncture method was summarized, but also some new acupoints were discovered. As long as the technique is mastered correctly, the patient will have a feeling of the uterus being lifted, and generally a good effect is achieved. In addition, some experience has been accumulated in acupoint injection, electroacupuncture or acupuncture combined with oral administration of Buzhong Yiqi Decoction. It should be noted that for patients with uterine prolapse and high-grade infection, the infection should be controlled first, and then acupuncture should be performed. However, acupuncture is not suitable for patients with severe ascites, portal vein hypertension, and malignant tumors in the lower abdomen. Acupuncture treatment for this disease, the key target is patients with first and second degree prolapse. The current efficiency is around 90%.

Disease name. Other names include uterine prolapse, vaginal prolapse, vaginal (疒^沦), malarial disease, uterine expulsion, and intestinal expulsion. I want to call it hanging eggplant or gourd. It also falls into the category of vaginal prolapse and vaginal hemorrhoids. It refers to the female uterus falling downward and even slipping out of the vaginal opening. Symptoms include uterine prolapse or slipping out of the vaginal opening, or even protruding from the vaginal wall or bladder and duodenum. It is mostly caused by Qi deficiency, belt meridian failure, Chong and Ren deficiency, or multiple births, difficult labor, too intense labor, doing heavy physical work too soon after giving birth, etc., which damage the cell network and kidney essence, and make the uterus lose its maintenance. If there are also symptoms such as shortness of breath, laziness to speak, pale face (white under a lamp), empty lower abdomen, etc., the symptoms are due to qi deficiency, and it is advisable to replenish qi and blood to generate yang, with Buzhong Yiqi Decoction; if there are also symptoms such as tinnitus, dizziness, weak waist, knees and legs, etc., it is due to kidney deficiency, and it is advisable to replenish the kidney and replenish essence, with Dabuyuan Decoction plus deer antler glue, cimicifuga, and bitter orange. If uterine prolapse is caused by friction damage or infection by evil toxins, and there are local swelling and ulceration, yellow discharge, vulvar swelling and pain, red and frequent urination, etc., it is advisable to clear away heat and dampness, use Longdan Xiegan Decoction, and apply external fumigation and washing: Sophora flavescens, Cnidium monnieri, Phellodendron chinense, dried ebony, and Gallnut decoction in water, fumigate first and then wash. Acupuncture in traditional Chinese medicine can be used to prick the Weibao, Jiegong, Sanyinjiao and other acupoints.
