Correct method to calculate due date

Correct method to calculate due date

From the beginning of pregnancy, parents have a special feeling for the baby in their bodies. Many pregnant mothers are looking forward to knowing when the baby will be born. In addition to the pregnant mother, every member of the family is eager to know, and they begin to carefully prepare the things needed for childbirth, as well as prepare clothes for the baby and so on. Well, at this time, many people will choose to calculate the due date to determine the time, so that they can prepare in advance. How to calculate the due date? How to calculate it most accurately? Let's take a look with the editor below!

The delivery date can generally be calculated in the following ways:

1. Calculate based on the expected date of delivery: add 9 or subtract 3 from the month of the expected date of delivery to get the number of months of the due date; add 7 to the day of the due date to get the day of the due date. For example: the due date of pregnancy is April 15, 2014, the time is 15 * 7=22, the month is 4-3=1, and the due date is January 22, 2015. If it is a leap year and the leap month falls during the pregnancy period, the month minus 3 should be changed to minus 4 when calculating. Thin face

2. Calculate based on the date of fetal movement: If the pregnant woman cannot remember the due date, she can calculate based on the date of fetal movement. Generally, fetal movement begins at 18-20 weeks of pregnancy. The calculation method is: for primiparas, it is the day the baby moves plus 20 weeks; for multiparas, it is the day the baby moves plus 22 weeks.

3. Calculate based on the ovulation temperature curve: take the last day of the ultra-low temperature section of the ovulation temperature curve as the ovulation period, and calculate backward from the ovulation period to 264-268 days, or add 38 weeks. (The prerequisite is that you diligently measured your ovulation temperature at that time)

4. Calculation based on B-ultrasound examination: When the doctor does B-ultrasound examination, he can measure the biparietal diameter of the fetal head, the brachiocephalic diameter and the femur length to estimate the gestational age and calculate the delivery date accordingly (this method is mostly used by doctors for B-ultrasound examination and diagnosis).

5. Calculate from the time when morning sickness starts: Morning sickness usually occurs on the 6th week of pregnancy, which is 42 days after the expected date of delivery. Calculating backward to 280 days is the due date.

6. Roughly estimate based on the height of the uterine fundus: If the pregnant woman cannot remember the due date, she can also roughly estimate the delivery date based on the height of the uterine fundus. At the end of April, the height of the pregnant woman's uterus is between the navel and the upper edge of the toes (10 cm above the ischial tuberosity); at the end of May, the fundus of the uterus is 2 horizontal fingers below the navel (16-17 cm above the toes); at the end of June, the fundus of the uterus is level with the navel (19-20 cm above the toes); at the end of July, the fundus of the uterus is three horizontal fingers above the navel (22-23 cm above the toes); at the end of August, the fundus of the uterus is between the sternum and the navel (24-25 cm above the pubic area); at the end of September, the fundus of the uterus is 2 horizontal fingers below the sternum (28-30 cm above the toes); at the end of the tenth month, the height of the fundus of the uterus returns to the height of eight months, but the fetal abdominal circumference is larger than that of eight months.

The due date is the estimated time of delivery of a pregnant woman. It must be made clear that the arrival of the due date does not mean that the baby will be born on the same day. Experts have shown that only about 53% of women give birth on their due date. The due date can remind pregnant women of the safe time period for the birth of their fetus, but because every pregnant woman cannot accurately determine the time of pregnancy, the due date is only an important reference indicator.

Pregnant mothers who have not given birth yet when the due date comes, please don't be too anxious. This is normal. As long as the prenatal examination indicators are normal, there is no need to worry too much. If the delivery date is delayed beyond 14 days, which is what clinical medicine calls post-term pregnancy, the embryo of some pregnant women will become fragile and the fetus will suffer from lack of oxygen and suffocation, which will cause great harm to the child and you should go to the hospital immediately to take effective measures.
