How long after the luteal phase does menstruation occur?

Although every woman will have her first menstruation at a certain age and start menstruating continuously, much knowledge about menstruation is not comprehensive. Women's menstruation is very important. If you don't pay attention to it, it may cause discomfort. Women have a luteal phase before and after menstruation, which is a period of preparation for ovulation. Now let's take a look at how long it takes for menstruation to occur after the luteal phase.

How long does it usually take for menstruation to come during the luteal phase?

The luteal phase generally refers to the 15th to 28th day of the menstrual cycle, which usually lasts 14 days. During this time, the follicles in the ovaries mature, ovulate and gradually form a corpus luteum, which is called the luteal phase. For example, if a woman's menstrual cycle is 28 days, the first 14 days are the follicular phase and the last 14 days are her luteal phase.

From ovulation to the day before menstruation, the ovaries are affected by luteinizing hormone and secrete progesterone to maintain the thickened endometrium to facilitate the implantation of the fertilized egg. If the fertilized egg does not implant, the endometrium will collapse and the menstrual cycle ends with the onset of menstruation.

During the luteal phase, under the synergistic action of estrogen and progesterone, the endometrium further proliferates, blood vessels grow, and glands begin to secrete glycogen-containing mucus. At the end of this period, the growth of the endometrium reaches its peak, preparing the conditions for the implantation and continued development of the fertilized egg.

In the early luteal phase, women's physical and mental conditions are still in a relatively stable state. They will not feel particularly excited or depressed. But as this cycle is about to end, the progesterone gradually increases and begins to take effect, and the woman's physical condition will begin to become more and more unstable. The last few days are when women are at their lowest emotional point, and they are prone to temper tantrum, irritability, tension, and mood swings. Therefore, women generally have a particularly bad temper in the early stages of menstruation. Skin problems also began to appear: rough skin and acne breakouts.

Can I take progesterone during my menstrual period?

1. Women have poor resistance during menstruation, so they are prone to some diseases, especially colds, etc., so you can take medicine in this case. Generally speaking, just be careful not to take blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing drugs during menstruation, and just read the instructions before taking the medicine. If the cold is not very serious, it is recommended to use diet therapy, but if it is a serious cold, you can consult a doctor and take medication, but do not use medication indiscriminately.

2. Experts point out that women must be cautious when taking medicine during menstruation and fully consider the safety of the medicine: on the one hand, some medicines can cause irregular menstruation; on the other hand, menstrual bleeding can also affect the efficacy of the medicine.

3. It is not recommended for women to take medicine during menstruation. Because menstruation is a special time, if you take medicine, some hormones will stimulate the female uterus, which is not good for female friends (however, the hormone ingredients contained in cold medicine are relatively small, so you can take it in moderation).

4. It is best not to take cold medicine during menstruation, because some cold medicines contain hormone ingredients, which will have a certain impact on women's endocrine system. You can take Chinese herbal cold granules instead of antibiotics, and insist on regular exercise. If the condition is very serious, you can go to the hospital for examination and treatment, or get an infusion, etc. It is best not to take hormonal cold medicines.
