The breast pump cannot pump out milk

The breast pump cannot pump out milk

Many mothers have to use a breast pump to store breast milk after giving birth, because the baby cannot finish the milk in one go and frequent feeding is also tiring. Therefore, a breast pump is the simplest and most effective method. However, you need to be careful when using a breast pump. The breast pump may cause nipple pain and no milk can be sucked out due to improper use. What should you do?

How to use

How it works

1. Before pumping milk, warm the breasts with a fumigated towel and massage the areola to fully expand the mammary glands;

2. Use the suction force that suits your situation to suck milk;

3. The principle of breastfeeding is about 8 minutes; (the time should be controlled within 20 minutes)

4. Stop pumping milk if you feel pain in your breasts and nipples.

How to express breast milk

⒈Choose a leisurely time when you will not be disturbed;

⒉ Let the baby lie beside you, or put a photo of the baby beside you, which will help the mother relax while sucking milk;

⒊ Use a hot towel to warm your breasts for a few minutes before pumping milk, which will help milk flow out and relieve pain;

⒋ A gentle and relaxed state is conducive to the flow of milk. You can try to express milk after bathing;

5. When the baby is feeding, use a breast pump on the other breast, or continue to use a breast pump to suck milk after the baby has finished feeding;

6. You can frequently change the position of the breast pump on the breast to stimulate the mammary gland;

⒎ Practice using a breast pump until you find the most comfortable way, but if using a breast pump causes you pain, stop immediately and consult a doctor.

Use common sense

If the breast pump cannot suck out milk, it means there is no milk. The mother's breasts are like a warehouse. The milk is transported to the milk sinuses through the mammary glands and then squeezed out or sucked out. When Ms. Zhao used a breast pump, she only sucked out the milk in the milk sinuses. If she did this frequently, the mammary ducts would become blocked and milk lumps would gradually form.

The baby's sucking is the best way to stimulate the nipple and increase milk supply. The newborn baby has weak sucking power, so the mother should not be anxious. She can slowly use her hands to push from the base of the nipple to facilitate the discharge of breast milk. If you must use a breast pump, you should also use this method to assist. Otherwise, there will be only two situations over time. Either there will be no milk gradually, or there will be more and more milk lumps, the breasts will become more and more swollen, but the milk cannot come out, and finally the nipple will rupture and become infected, causing mastitis.

It’s okay not to feed your baby at night. Prolactin, also known as prolactin, is a hormone secreted by the pituitary gland. Women in the late pregnancy and lactation period, secrete prolactin vigorously to promote breast development and lactation. The secretion of prolactin varies greatly throughout the day, and generally the secretion level is maintained at a higher level during sleep. At 3 or 4 in the morning, the serum prolactin concentration is about twice that of noon.

If there is too much milk, you need to use a breast pump to drain it out. The correct way is to drain some of the milk when your breasts are swell. It is best to squeeze it by hand. If you really don't know how to do it, use a breast pump, slowly lengthen the interval between draining, and slowly reduce the amount of milk drained each time. After a period of adjustment, you will slowly reach a "balance between supply and demand."
