What causes green vaginal discharge?

Leucorrhea is a barometer of women's physical health. By observing the state of leucorrhea, physiological problems can be discovered in time, helping women treat physiological diseases. The color of leucorrhea is the basis for observation. Most of the leucorrhea is transparent. However, if you are sick, the leucorrhea may appear in other colors. For example, why does the leucorrhea turn green? Let’s take a look at the explanation below.

When you find that your leucorrhea has turned green, no matter what your health condition is, it is recommended that you go to the obstetrics and gynecology department of the hospital and let the doctor perform a gynecological examination, check the vaginal secretions, and do bacterial culture if necessary. For your own health, you should go to a qualified hospital for treatment.

1. Why does the leucorrhea turn green? It may be caused by cervical disease. There are two common cervical diseases, namely cervicitis and cervical erosion.

2. Green vaginal discharge is caused by bacterial vaginosis. Bacterial vaginosis is a mixed infection of vaginal Gardnerella and some hypoxic bacteria, which leads to an imbalance of the microecological balance in the vagina, causing increased vaginal secretions, fishy odor of vaginal discharge, and itching and burning of the vulva.

3. Trichomonas vaginitis. The leucorrhea may be slightly green, which may be caused by Trichomonas vaginitis and can be treated with local medication.

4. Chronic cervicitis and endometritis: Abnormal green leucorrhea may also be a manifestation of cervicitis, or endometritis, etc. Generally, leucorrhea is manifested by increased leucorrhea, which is yellow or yellow-green, and purulent and sticky.

5. Gardnerella vaginitis: Gardnerella vaginitis is also called Haemophilus vaginitis. Symptoms include redness and swelling of the female vulva, congestion of the vaginal mucosa, gray-red color, mild redness and swelling, and the secretions are mostly homogeneous, thin, gray-white, sometimes milky yellow or green, and have a fishy smell.

After the test results come out, medication should be carried out under the guidance of a doctor. There are oral medications and topical medications. These must be done under the doctor's orders and you cannot take the medicine at will. Topical medications are usually taken before bedtime, allowing the drug to stay longer and thus achieve the therapeutic effect.
