Female paraurethral gland inflammation

Female paraurethral gland inflammation

Female paraurethral glanditis is mainly caused by pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli and gonococci. This disease has a certain incubation period. It appears as small red papules with a diameter of 1-2 mm, and some papules will also discharge secretions. The main symptoms of female paraurethral glanditis are also in the urethral opening. There will be pain and burning during urination, and irregular urination. However, it is reassuring that the papules at the urethral opening rarely ulcerate or enlarge.

Causes

The paraurethral glands open on both sides of the posterior wall of the urethral opening. When the urethra is infected, pathogenic bacteria can lurk in the paraurethral glands and cause paraurethral glanditis. The main pathogenic bacteria are Escherichia coli, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Clinical manifestations

Paraurethral gland inflammation often occurs near the urethral opening. It is a dome-shaped or pointed papule, red in color, about 1-2 mm in diameter, with a small amount of secretion flowing out from the center of the papule. It is obvious when squeezed or the penis is erect, does not gradually grow or enlarge, and generally does not rupture and bleed.

symptom

1. Symptoms

Frequent urination, urgency, pain when urinating, and burning and pain in the urethra after urination.

2. Take purulent secretions from the opening of the glandular duct for smear and bacterial culture. If gonococci or other pathogenic bacteria grow in the culture, a clear diagnosis can be made.

3. Midstream urine microscopic examination shows a large number of white blood cells (pyuria), indicating inflammation of the urinary tract.

treat

1. Antibiotic treatment. If it is a gonococcal infection, treat it as gonococcal urethritis. In case of other bacterial infections, medication can be given according to the bacterial culture and drug sensitivity results.

2. Follow-up is required after the treatment, and secretions should be taken from the infected area for smear and bacterial culture to observe the efficacy.

4 major hazards of female urethritis

Due to the special structure of the female urinary and reproductive system, the female urethra is shorter and wider than the male urethra, making it easier for bacteria to enter. The harm of urethritis can affect the body and daily life.

1. Causes various discomfort symptoms: After the bacteria infect the urethra, they will cause abscesses on the urethra. The scarring will result in urethral stenosis, and the patient will experience difficulty urinating and a thin urine flow. In addition, symptoms such as increased secretions and vulvar itching make many women embarrassed.

2. Cause infertility: The prostate may be invaded and cause prostatitis. The patient will have symptoms of perineum pain and lower back pain, which may lead to infertility in severe cases.

3. The dangers of urethritis include causing arthritis: when the infection is severe, bacteria invade the knee joint and cause arthritis.

4. Effects on offspring: Children born to infected women may develop conjunctivitis.
