What to do if you have yeast infection during pregnancy

What to do if you have yeast infection during pregnancy

Mold is a type of bacteria that is widely present in our daily lives, and penicillin is also a drug extracted from mold. However, some molds can cause disease in the human body. Especially for a woman, if she does not pay attention to her private parts hygiene, it is easy to cause fungal infection and trigger some gynecological diseases. Most cases of vaginitis are caused by fungal infection, but how should I treat it if I find myself suffering from fungal vaginitis one month into my pregnancy?

1. How to treat mold in pregnant women

Don't be afraid of developing candidal vaginitis during pregnancy. Most pregnant women who suffer from this disease worry that the treatment drugs will affect the fetus in their belly. Some even endure the torture of the disease for several days. When they can't stand it anymore, they go to the hospital anxiously for treatment. There is no need to worry. At present, obstetrics and gynecology experts at home and abroad agree that local antifungal treatment during pregnancy is safe and effective. Moreover, local drugs are less absorbed by the body, have less effect on the liver, kidneys and the whole body, and the local concentration is relatively high, so the effect is more direct and safer for the fetus. Pregnant women suffering from this disease can choose local treatments such as clotrimazole suppositories, miconazole nitrate suppositories (Daktarin suppositories) and nystatin suppositories. Patients can apply the medicine themselves, and it usually takes 7 days.

2. How to diagnose mold

The vulva is extremely itchy, and the leucorrhea is white, thick and resembling tofu dregs; the vaginal mucosa is red and swollen, and shallow ulcers may form in severe cases; Candida albicans is found in vaginal secretions. You can take a small amount of vaginal secretions, put it on a 10% KOH or saline slide, mix it well, and find the hyphae under a microscope to confirm the diagnosis. 10% KOH can dissolve other cell components, and the positive detection rate is 70% to 80%. If there are symptoms but multiple microscopic examinations are negative, culture can be used to confirm the diagnosis.

3. How to prevent mold

Exercise, eat a balanced diet, and avoid foods high in sugar. Develop good hygiene habits. Dress appropriately. When using public restrooms, try to avoid sitting toilets; showers are encouraged. Don't be overly particular about hygiene. Do not abuse antibiotics. Actively treat diabetes. If women who take contraceptive pills suffer from repeated candidal vaginitis, they should stop taking the pills and use other contraceptive methods instead.

The dangers of mold to pregnant women

1. Cause pelvic diseases in patients: If candidal vaginitis is not treated for a long time, it is easy to cause ascending inflammation, causing cervicitis and cervical erosion. If the pathogen enters the uterine cavity, it will cause fallopian tube and ovarian inflammation, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc., and finally affect pregnancy.

2. Affect the patient's quality of life: Candidal vaginitis will be accompanied by symptoms such as vulvar itching. The itching will make people restless and cause burning pain, which will cause many inconveniences and impacts on women's life and work. In addition, some people also experience frequent urination, painful urination or painful sexual intercourse, which also affects the couple's life.

3. Impact on fetal development: Women’s sex hormone levels are high after pregnancy, and the vagina is congested, secretions are vigorous, and the vulva is moist, which creates an environment for the reproduction of mold. After pregnant women suffer from candidal vaginitis, in a few cases the fungi in the vagina can ascend through the cervix, penetrate the fetal membrane and infect the fetus. In addition, when the fetus is delivered vaginally by the mother, it may also be infected with fungi, mostly oral fungal infections, such as thrush. Some babies may also develop fungal dermatitis around the anus.
