Women have regular leucorrhea every month, and it is closely related to the regularity of menstruation. Under normal circumstances, leucorrhea is transparent and has no odor. But what happens if there is blood in the leucorrhea? If there is blood in the leucorrhea, many aspects need to be considered. On the one hand, related diseases in the uterus should be considered, and on the other hand, whether it is caused by the placement of an intrauterine contraceptive device should be considered. Leucorrhea with blood is also called bloody leucorrhea, which means that there is blood mixed in the leucorrhea. You should be alert to the possibility of malignant tumors such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer, but benign lesions such as cervical polyps, cervicitis, submucosal fibroids, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and senile vaginitis can also cause bloody leucorrhea. Bloody leucorrhea caused by intrauterine contraceptive device placement is also common. Differential Diagnosis 1. Bloody leucorrhea, increased menstrual volume, prolonged menstrual period but normal cycle. It may be uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, or dysfunctional uterine bleeding. In addition, those who have an IUD may also have increased menstrual flow. 2. Irregular menstrual cycle with bloody leucorrhea. It is often functional uterine bleeding, but endometrial cancer should be ruled out first. 3. Long-term bloody leucorrhea. Most of them are malignant tumors of reproductive organs, such as cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, etc. 4. Leucorrhea contains blood after menopause. Women of childbearing age are more likely to have pregnancy-related diseases, such as miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, hydatidiform mole, etc.; postmenopausal women are more likely to have malignant tumors. 5. Bloody leucorrhea after sexual intercourse. Most of them are cervical inflammation, cervical polyps, cervical cancer or submucosal fibroids. 6. Vaginal bleeding with bloody leucorrhea. It is often considered to be advanced cervical cancer or endometrial cancer with infection. 7. Paroxysmal vaginal bleeding with bloody leucorrhea. There is a possibility of primary fallopian tube cancer. 8. Bloody leucorrhea before and after menstruation. It is usually caused by ovarian dysfunction, but may also be endometriosis. 9. The leucorrhea contains blood, but the amount of bleeding is not much. Some people only have a small amount of brown secretions. It usually lasts for half a day or 2 to 3 days, and no more than 7 days at most. It may be accompanied by mild ovulation pain and back pain. Regular vaginal bleeding is caused by a temporary drop in estrogen levels, which causes the endometrium to lose hormonal support and partially shed. If someone is measuring their basal body temperature, they will notice that this bleeding usually occurs during the transition from low body temperature to high body temperature. 10. Some women may also experience bloody vaginal discharge after taking emergency contraceptive pills after having unprotected sex. The impact of emergency contraceptive pills on menstruation is mainly manifested in changes in the menstrual cycle, which may be early or delayed. In particular, repeated use can cause menstrual disorders, bleeding, and continuous spotting. Therefore, emergency contraceptive pills can only be used as a remedial measure and cannot replace normal contraceptive methods. 11. Generally, vaginal bleeding stops about 3 to 7 days after an abortion or miscarriage. For some people, bleeding time is prolonged due to physical weakness, fatigue, etc. If there are no special circumstances and the leucorrhea lasts longer, after excluding intraoperative injury and cervical inflammation, it is likely that there is residual blood in the uterus. The doctor should check and decide whether to use medication or curettage. Treatment of leucorrhea with blood Identify the cause and treat it symptomatically. Prevention of bloody vaginal discharge 1. Understand and master menstrual physiology and hygiene knowledge, and pay attention to menstrual health care and hygiene. 2. Avoid excessive fatigue during bleeding and get more rest; keep the area clean to prevent infection; apply hot compresses to the abdomen when abdominal pain is severe; and keep your emotions stable. Strengthen physical exercise on a regular basis to improve your physical fitness. |
