The woman smells fishy

The woman smells fishy

If a woman has a fishy smell on her body, she should pay attention to it, especially if this smell comes from her private parts. This is often related to gynecological diseases. The most common one is bacterial vaginitis, because bacterial growth can cause abnormal leucorrhea, which will lead to increased vaginal secretions. The leucorrhea will have a fishy smell, and it can also easily cause symptoms such as private itching in women.

The woman smells fishy

This situation is more common in bacterial vaginosis: bacterial vaginosis is a mixed infection of vaginal Gardnerella and some hypoxic bacteria, which leads to an imbalance of the microecological balance in the vagina, causing increased vaginal discharge, fishy leucorrhea and a syndrome of itching and burning of the vulva.

There are four main reasons:

1. Indirect contact infection

Contact with toilets, bathtubs, bath seats, towels in public toilets that are contaminated with bacteria, and using unclean toilet paper can cause infection.

2. Sexual transmission

It is one of the causes of the disease. At least 10% of men with symptoms on the female side have bacterial urethritis.

3. Taking large amounts of antibiotics

Antibiotics change the vaginal microenvironment, causing pathogenic bacterial pathogens to multiply and leading to localized bacterial vaginosis.

4. Excessive attention to hygiene

In order to maintain hygiene, some women often use medicated washes to irrigate the vagina, which can easily destroy the acid and alkaline environment of the vagina and make it easy to get bacterial vaginitis.

Diagnostic methods:

1. Vaginal discharge is grayish white, sticky, paste-like, uniform, non-purulent, and the amount is variable.

2. The secretion has a high amine content and a fishy smell. During sexual intercourse or after activity, the release of amines is promoted, making the odor worse. Adding 10% potassium hydroxide to the secretion can release the amine smell.

3. The pH value of vaginal secretions increases to 5.0~5.5, while the normal pH value is 3.7~4.5.

4. Clue cells can be detected in smears of vaginal secretions.

If any of the above four situations occurs, it can be diagnosed as bacterial vaginosis.
