What to eat during pregnancy

What to eat during pregnancy

After a woman becomes pregnant, family members will become cautious, especially in the first three months. Whenever a pregnant woman appears, there will always be someone watching her, for fear that something might go wrong. Nutrition during pregnancy is very important. The nutrition supplemented during this period is not only for the expectant mother, but also for the baby. Therefore, for the health of the baby, the expectant mother will also eat more nutritious food. So what should pregnant women eat when they are one to three months pregnant?

What to eat during the first three months of pregnancy?

1. Fruit. There are many kinds of fruits. Citrus fruits are economical and affordable. Although 90% of them are water, they are rich in vitamin C, folic acid and a lot of fiber, which can help pregnant women maintain their physical strength and prevent fatigue caused by dehydration. Bananas can quickly provide energy and help pregnant women overcome fatigue. If your morning sickness is severe, eating bananas may be more acceptable to your stomach.

2. Lean meat. Because lean meat is rich in iron and is easily absorbed by the human body. During pregnancy, the total blood volume of the pregnant woman will increase in order to ensure sufficient nutrition for the fetus, so the pregnant woman's need for iron will increase exponentially. If the body does not store enough iron, pregnant women will feel easily fatigued, so it is extremely important to supplement enough iron through diet, especially lean meat.

3. Vegetables. When making Western salads, don’t forget to add dark-colored lettuce. Dark-colored vegetables often mean high vitamin content. Kale is a good source of calcium, and you can always add this fresh vegetable to soup or dumpling filling. Spinach was once believed to be rich in iron and was considered one of the vegetables that can prevent anemia during pregnancy. But recently experts have pointed out that spinach does not contain much iron, but contains a large amount of oxalic acid which affects the absorption of zinc and calcium, so don't eat too much spinach. Cauliflower has many benefits. It is rich in calcium and folic acid, has a large amount of fiber and disease-fighting antioxidants, and helps the absorption of iron from other green vegetables.

Precautions during early pregnancy

1. Pay attention to pregnancy and seek medical treatment in time. The body's signs of pregnancy vary from person to person, and the initial reactions are mild, non-specific, and often ignored. Therefore, it is particularly important to pay attention to the date of menstruation. If you have sexual intercourse without proper contraceptive measures and your menstruation is irregular, you should be highly alert to the possibility of pregnancy.

2. Quit smoking and drinking. Tobacco contains hundreds of toxic substances, which is simply the embodiment of the devil for mother and child. Direct or indirect inhalation of smoke by pregnant women can cause miscarriage, premature birth, fetal malformation and various deformities.

3. Eat and rest properly. The discomfort of early pregnancy, especially vomiting, makes new mothers worry that the fetus will be malnourished. In fact, there is no need to be overly nervous. This tiny embryo does not need a lot of nutrition. Regularly eating and the nutritional reserves in the body can fully meet his/her small requirements.

Although early pregnancy reactions vary from person to person, most women who are pregnant early will have a preference for greasy food. Therefore, during the first one to three months of pregnancy, you can eat more fruits, vegetables and lean meat to meet the nutritional needs of the body and fetus during the formation period. At the same time, be careful not to overwork, protect your abdomen well, and try to minimize contact between your abdomen and other foreign objects.
