Why do women feel short of breath?

In life, many women will experience palpitations and shortness of breath, and this phenomenon is easy to occur whether it is daytime or nighttime. After the attack, it will cause different degrees of damage to the body, which is very detrimental to women's normal work and life. Especially when it occurs at night, it will also affect the quality of sleep. Therefore, women must seek timely treatment. So why do women experience palpitations and shortness of breath?

First, why do women feel anxious and short of breath? A normal person's heartbeat rhythm is regular, and in a resting state the heartbeat is generally between 60 and 100 beats per minute. If the heartbeat is less than 60 beats per minute, more than 100 beats per minute, or the rhythm is irregular, it is considered to have an arrhythmia. Arrhythmia can be a clinical manifestation of certain diseases or an independent disease. There are many types of heart rhythms, and for the convenience of clinical treatment, they can be divided into bradycardia and tachycardia.

Second, studies have shown that almost all heart diseases will develop arrhythmias when they develop to a certain extent. This is the most common cause of arrhythmias, among which coronary heart disease, cardiomyopathy, valvular disease, etc. are the most common. Unhealthy lifestyles such as mental stress, emotional excitement, excessive fatigue, drinking large amounts of strong tea or coffee, drinking too much alcohol, smoking, etc. can interfere with the nerve regulation function and affect the heartbeat. Such situations are also relatively common in clinical practice. Infectious diseases such as colds, tonsillitis, and bacillary dysentery can also cause arrhythmias, which are often related to myocarditis caused by the infection. In addition, metabolic diseases such as hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, electrolyte disorders such as potassium deficiency or high blood potassium can also interfere with the normal beating of the heart. People with the above conditions are at high risk of arrhythmia and should pay more attention to their heartbeat.

Third, the easiest way to initially judge arrhythmia is to feel the pulse. A pulse that is too fast, too slow, or irregular often indicates a heart rhythm disorder. Electrocardiogram (ECG) can diagnose most arrhythmias and is the most commonly used test in clinical practice. However, the vast majority of arrhythmias are paroxysmal, and if the patient is not experiencing an attack when he or she sees a doctor, the electrocardiogram may still be normal. At this time, continuous dynamic electrocardiogram monitoring can be performed for 24 to 48 hours. If it still cannot be found, electrophysiological examination can be performed.

Why do women feel palpitations and shortness of breath? Palpitations are a common clinical symptom. Simple palpitations are often seen in arrhythmias. Healthy people may often experience palpitations when they are emotionally unstable, mentally stressed, frightened, exercising, doing heavy physical labor, smoking heavily, drinking excessively, or drinking strong tea. The causes of pathological palpitations include heart disease, hyperthyroidism, fever, severe anemia, acute bleeding, etc. In addition, patients with neurasthenia and cardiac neurosis often experience palpitations.
