Is fluff pulp harmful to the body?

Is fluff pulp harmful to the body?

When it comes to fluff pulp, you may not know what it is, but for female friends, if we talk about sanitary napkins, then everyone must be familiar with it. Fluff pulp is used in the production of many sanitary napkins. Even many baby diapers use fluff pulp. So, is fluff pulp harmful to the body? Let’s take a look.

What is fluff pulp?

Fluff pulp is processed wood pulp and straw pulp. It is a kind of pulp used as a water-absorbing medium in the production of various sanitary products (such as sanitary napkins, baby diapers, hospital mattresses, etc.). The raw material for making fluff pulp is commercial coniferous wood.

What is the role of fluff pulp in sanitary napkins?

The main function of fluff pulp in sanitary napkins is to absorb water and blood. According to the use of fluff pulp, the properties of fluff pulp can be summarized into three parts, namely the general properties of fluff pulp, the properties of fluff pulp board and the properties of fluff. The general properties of fluff pulp include whiteness, organic solvent extract, fiber length and its distribution; the properties of fluff pulp board include basis weight, compactness, bursting strength, moisture content; the properties of fluff include specific volume, moisture absorption time and moisture absorption rate, and moisture absorption amount. Judging from the absorption effect of various sanitary napkins currently available, fluff pulp + absorbent polymer is the optimal absorption combination.

How many sanitary napkins use fluff pulp?

Except for liquid sanitary napkins, most of the products on the market are made of fluff pulp. Sanitary napkins, both domestic and foreign, are made of fluff pulp. However, due to the small number of commercial trees in China and limited extraction technology, the vast majority of fluff pulp is now imported.

Some articles on the Internet say that "fluff pulp is bleached from large pulp such as secondary recycled paper towels, sanitary napkins, scraps and hospital recycled cotton." Is this true?

The use of black pulp does exist. According to professional knowledge, there is indeed secondary fluff pulp used by unscrupulous merchants on the market. In order to increase the whiteness, it is bleached with fluorescent agents! It is not ruled out that some unscrupulous small workshops will purchase "black pulp", just like the "black cotton" in previous years.

How to distinguish whether it is inferior fluff pulp

1. Use a special ultraviolet pen for detecting fluorescent agents to irradiate the sanitary napkin in a dark place. High-quality fluff pulp will appear purple, while inferior ones will appear blue (due to bleaching with fluorescent agents).

2. The quality of fluff pulp can be directly reflected in the experience. High-quality fluff pulp will bring skin-friendly comfort, while low-quality fluff pulp will cause discomfort such as itching and allergies.

3. The raw materials purchased by regular manufacturers are regularly sent to the local quality inspection department for sample testing. These test reports are required to pass the annual inspection of the company's health license. When purchasing sanitary napkins, you may wish to first find out whether the company that manufactures the product has the relevant qualifications and certifications.

Returning to the question of "Are sanitary napkins made of fluff pulp harmful to the body?", the above analysis shows that high-quality fluff pulp will not be harmful to the body, let alone cause disease.

Here we strongly condemn those unscrupulous vendors who produce "black heart fluff pulp" and the small workshops that use "black heart pulp" for processing. At the same time, we should resist those rumor-mongering individuals or groups who generalize and quote things out of context. We also do not want the general public to be "used" and "assist" these rumor-mongering individuals or groups with only a partial understanding of the situation. Consumers are advised to keep their eyes open, consume rationally, and not believe in unregulated propaganda and rumors. Believe: Rumors stop at the wise.
