How big is the IVF follicle before the egg can be retrieved

There are many ways for women to get pregnant. In addition to normal pregnancy, they can also have in vitro fertilization. There are certain differences between test tube follicles and ordinary follicles. When taking eggs from test tube follicles, there are certain requirements for their size. We can check the size of the follicles through B-ultrasound. When they reach a certain size, our test tube follicles can be taken out. So how big can the test tube follicles be for egg retrieval?

Generally speaking, the current method of detecting follicles is basically to use B-ultrasound detection, but many female friends do not know when is the best time to detect follicles. The accuracy of the physical examination is particularly important for assisted reproductive treatment, so when doing in vitro fertilization, the couple is often required to undergo a comprehensive physical examination before, and then come back for another examination after seeing the doctor. The purpose is to accurately understand the body.

As for the timing of monitoring follicles before in vitro fertilization, doctors usually decide based on the patient's physical condition. During the monitoring period, B-ultrasound can be used to discover and understand the number and size of the follicles that are induced to grow, and then the dosage and duration of ovulation-inducing drugs can be appropriately adjusted based on the monitoring results. Generally speaking, on the 10th-12th day of the menstrual cycle, the number of dominant follicles can reach 2-3, and can develop to a size of 40px. However, you cannot rush to retrieve the eggs at this time. The time to inject HCG should be determined based on the thickness of the endometrium and the urinary LH peak.

Because everyone's physical constitution is different and their responses to ovulation-stimulating drugs vary, the doctor will determine the time for egg retrieval by monitoring the development of follicles.

For women who are planning to have a baby, it is important to monitor ovulation. If your menstrual cycle is regular, then your ovulation period is probably between the 11th and 17th day of your menstrual cycle. Therefore, you can start monitoring ovulation from the tenth day of the menstrual cycle. Go to the hospital for an ultrasound to monitor ovulation, and monitor it every other day. Theoretically, the 14th day should be the ovulation day.

Do B-ultrasound every day to check the growth rate of follicles and whether ovulation occurs. Ultrasound can reveal small follicles in the ovaries on the 3rd to 5th day of the menstrual cycle. These follicles gradually grow larger, reaching their largest size on the 14th day on average, and ovulation can occur. From the 5th day of menstruation to before ovulation, the primary follicle increases by an average of 1.5mm per day; before the 10th day, it increases by an average of 1.2mm per day; 4 days before ovulation, it increases by an average of 1.9mm until the follicle matures. If the diameter of the follicle is ≥18mm, it means that the follicle is mature and ovulation may occur at any time.
