It can be as early as 11-12 years for healthy and well-nourished people, and as late as 17-18 years for weak and malnourished people. Menstruation before the age of 8 is precocious puberty, which is seen in ovarian and adrenal tumors. If a woman has not had her first menstruation by the age of 18, it is considered as delayed onset of sexual intercourse. In addition to amenorrhea, this condition may also be caused by poor development or malformation of the internal reproductive organs.

The average menstrual cycle is 28 to 30 days. If it is 7 days earlier or later, as long as it is basically regular, it is within the normal range. The duration of menstruation is generally 3-5 days, but the amount of menstrual blood during 1-2 menstrual periods is 20-120 ml, and most of the time it is around 50 ml. Most people experience no discomfort during menstruation, but some may experience lower abdominal pain, back pain, breast swelling, and emotional distress before or during menstruation.
