What are the causes of pelvic tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis mainly occurs after the endometrium is infected. Patients with pelvic tuberculosis will feel obvious discomfort in the abdomen and back pain. Generally, pelvic tuberculosis is caused by pulmonary tuberculosis, so everyone must prevent and treat it. After suffering from pelvic tuberculosis, patients should also receive timely and reasonable treatment.

reason

The disease is often secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis. In the genitals, the fallopian tubes are the first to be infected, followed by the endometrium and pelvic peritoneum. Ovarian and cervical tuberculosis are less common.

symptom

After the endometrium is infected by tuberculosis, the initial symptoms include excessive menstrual bleeding or spotting due to inflammation, congestion or ulcers of the endometrium. If not diagnosed and treated in time, the disease can progress further, destroying most of the endometrium, causing menstruation to become sparse. Finally, the endometrium is completely destroyed and replaced by scar tissue, at which point menstruation stops. Patients with pelvic tuberculosis may have common systemic symptoms of tuberculosis, such as low-grade fever, night sweats, weight loss, weakness, etc., or they may not have any symptoms at all.

Treatment

Once the diagnosis of pelvic tuberculosis is confirmed, active treatment should be given regardless of the severity of the disease, especially for patients with mild symptoms. It is difficult to be sure whether the lesions have become static or cured. This is to prevent the disease from worsening once the patient's immune function declines in the future. Even if there are no obvious symptoms, the benefits and risks should be explained to the patient and he should be persuaded to accept treatment.

Current treatment for pelvic tuberculosis includes general treatment, anti-tuberculosis drug treatment and surgical treatment.

General treatment of pelvic tuberculosis

Pelvic tuberculosis, like tuberculosis of other organs, is a chronic wasting disease. The strength of the body's immune function plays an important role in controlling the development of the disease, promoting lesion healing, and preventing recurrence after drug treatment. Therefore, patients in the acute phase need to rest in bed for at least 3 months. After the lesion is suppressed, you can engage in light activities, but you should also pay attention to rest, increase nutrition and vitamin-rich foods, get enough sleep at night, and be in a good spirit. Infertile women should be comforted and encouraged in particular to relieve their worries, so as to facilitate the recovery of their overall health.

Antituberculosis drug treatment for pelvic tuberculosis

The emergence of anti-tuberculosis drugs has brought about major changes and leaps in the treatment of tuberculosis. Other treatment measures have been mostly abandoned, and cases that previously required surgery have been replaced by safe, simple and more effective drug treatments. However, in order to achieve ideal therapeutic effects, the five principles of rational treatment must be implemented, namely early, combined, appropriate, sufficient and regular use of sensitive drugs. Early tuberculosis lesions are in the bacterial reproduction stage. The earlier and fresher the lesions are, the better the blood supply is, and the easier it is for drugs to penetrate. Active treatment can prevent delays and the formation of difficult-to-treat chronic caseous lesions. Combination therapy can kill naturally resistant bacteria or prevent their reproduction, greatly reducing the chance of producing drug-resistant tuberculosis bacteria. However, due to the long course of drug treatment, patients often find it difficult to adhere to the regimen, resulting in premature discontinuation of medication or irregular medication, leading to treatment failure. For this reason, clinicians should pay more attention to the two principles of rules and adequate treatment, pay attention to the patient's treatment situation, strengthen supervision of patients, avoid stopping medication midway or arbitrarily changing medication, and avoid incomplete treatment, which will lead to adverse consequences such as drug resistance and difficulty in treatment.
