How to treat vaginal trichomoniasis

How to treat vaginal trichomoniasis

Due to physiological reasons, the incidence of gynecological diseases is relatively high, and vaginal trichomoniasis is one of them. It often causes trichomoniasis vaginitis and urethritis. If the treatment is not thorough, it is easy to relapse. So how to treat it well?

Treatments for vaginal trichomoniasis in women include:

1. Topical medication

To enhance the vagina's defense capabilities, after scrubbing the vagina with a soapy cotton ball, you can flush the vagina with 0.5% lactic acid or nitric acid or 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution. For those with bacterial infection, 1:2000 Sanisol solution can be used for flushing. Any of the following can be selected: Diweijing tablets, 1 tablet placed in the vaginal vault daily, 10 days as a course of treatment. Carbazine tablets, 0.2-0.4 grams, are inserted into the posterior fornix of the vagina once a day for a course of 7-10 days. Trichostatin, 100,000 units are inserted into the vagina daily, and a course of treatment is 10 days. Asamycin, insert 1 tablet into the vagina daily, 7-10 days as a course of treatment. Before topical medication, it is advisable to flush the vagina with 0.5% acetic acid solution to improve the efficacy.

2. Chinese medicine treatment

It is mainly used to clear heat, dry dampness and kill insects. Commonly used ingredients are 30g of Sophora flavescens, 15g of Phellodendron amurense, 30g of Poria cocos, and 30g of Dictamni peel. After decocting in water, they are used to wash the vulva and vagina. Then, 9g each of Cnidium monnieri and Sophora flavescens are made into suppositories and placed in the vagina. This method is applied once a day, and 10 times is a course of treatment.

III. Systemic treatment

Oral metronidazole (Flagyl), 500 mg, twice a day, for 7 consecutive days; or 2.0 as a single dose. It is very important to treat sexual partners simultaneously; a single-dose regimen is also an option. Metronidazole treatment is effective, but highly resistant strains of Trichomonas vaginalis have now been isolated from ineffective cases. Because metronidazole has a disulfiram effect, alcohol should be avoided during treatment and within 24 hours after treatment. Metronidazole is carcinogenic to rodents. It also has a mutagenic effect on bacteria. For the sake of caution, it should not be used in the first 3 months of pregnancy. After 3 months of pregnancy, it can be treated with a single oral dose of metronidazole 2.0.
