Can patients with anemia have children?

Having a child is a woman's lifelong dream and a woman's lifelong responsibility. In a family, if there is no child, then life will lose interest and the relationship between the couple will not be good. Therefore, children are our pistachios and our tonic. However, for some women, it is very difficult to have children. Many women with anemia want to have children but are worried about the impact on the fetus. So, can women with anemia have children?

Consequences of anemia during pregnancy: Mild anemia has little effect on pregnancy. However, severe anemia reduces the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity, causing placental hypoxia, which can lead to degeneration of the placental villi, hemorrhage, necrosis, and infarction, leading to intrauterine fetal asphyxia. Severe cases can also cause premature birth or stillbirth. Due to insufficient blood and oxygen supply from the placenta, the growth and development of the fetus is also affected. Even if the pregnancy is full-term, the child will be small, light, and have poor intelligence. Newborns born to anemic mothers have low iron reserves in their bodies. Even if there are no obvious lesions at birth and the hemoglobin is within the normal range, they often develop anemia soon after birth due to insufficient iron reserves. The most sensitive indicators for judging anemia are serum ferritin and hemoglobin tests in pregnant women. When serum ferritin is lower than 12 micrograms/liter or hemoglobin is lower than 110 grams/liter, pregnant women can be diagnosed with anemia. (On the blood test report we did in the hospital, we can see a column for hemoglobin content. If it is lower than the standard value, it is anemia, and if it is below 100, it is severe anemia)

Severe anemia can cause changes in the circulatory system, and the most serious effect on the mother is heart failure. For the fetus, the direct consequence of anemia is that the oxygen-carrying capacity of the pregnant woman's blood cells is reduced, which leads to fetal intrauterine hypoxia, and then causes intrauterine fetal death, premature birth, and low birth weight. Due to the fetus's congenital iron deficiency, nutritional anemia occurs soon after birth. Anemia can also affect the development of fetal brain cells, causing the child to have poor learning ability in the future. Newborns born to anemic mothers have low iron reserves in their bodies. Even if there are no obvious lesions at birth and their hemoglobin is within the normal range, they often develop anemia soon after birth due to insufficient iron reserves.

If not replenished in time, the consequences of anemia in pregnant women may be very serious. Of course, you don’t have to worry too much. Anemia is mainly caused by iron and folic acid deficiency, among which iron deficiency is the most common. Usually, dietary iron supplements cannot meet the needs of the mother and fetus, which can easily lead to iron deficiency anemia. At this time, in addition to normal dietary iron intake, you can also take the commonly used iron supplement for pregnant women, Tiezhiyuan tablets, which can gently replenish iron, produce blood and increase nutrition, and easily improve anemia. If you are preparing to become a mother and want to have a healthy baby, you must pay attention to your daily nutritional balance, supplement with foods high in iron and protein, do not be picky about food and do not drink strong tea and coffee, etc. Reasonable dietary adjustments and scientific and effective iron supplementation can prevent and improve iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women. I hope every expectant mother will be healthy and have a good pregnancy.

As mentioned above, if a woman has anemia, it will definitely cause a lot of harm to the fetus after she becomes pregnant. Therefore, pregnancy is a problem that must be considered carefully. You cannot get pregnant casually. Before getting pregnant, not only can you not get pregnant due to anemia, but you also need to check whether you have other diseases in your body. If you do, you cannot get pregnant. If you want the fetus to be healthy, you must cure the anemia before having a child.
