High testosterone is a common symptom. It occurs not only in men but also in women. If a woman has high testosterone, it can easily affect her pregnancy. Therefore, we recommend that female friends pay attention to symptoms such as high testosterone. Below we will introduce what to do if testosterone is high. Many women are not very familiar with this issue, and have no idea of what high testosterone is. So what is considered high testosterone and what to do? Excessively high testosterone levels have a certain impact on pregnancy, but most women can become pregnant naturally after treatment. What should girls do if their testosterone level is too high? Under normal circumstances, the testosterone level in women's serum is stable within a certain range. If it exceeds the normal value, it indicates the possibility of disease. During the follicular phase of a normal menstrual cycle, the average serum testosterone concentration is 0.43 ng/ml, with a maximum limit of 0.68 ng/ml. If it exceeds 0.7 ng/m1 (equal to 2.44 nmol/L), it is called hypertestosteronemia or hyperandrogenism. The ovaries, adrenal cortex, etc. can synthesize cholesterol from acetic acid, or absorb cholesterol from the blood as a matrix, synthesize steroid hormones, and secrete them into the blood circulation. The male hormones circulating in the blood mainly include dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, dehydroepiandrosterone, androstenedione, testosterone and dihydrotestosterone. Hypertestosteronism is caused by excessive levels of these hormones, especially testosterone, in the blood. The most common causes of elevated testosterone are polycystic ovary syndrome, accounting for about 34%, followed by hyperfunction of the adrenal cortex, accounting for about 29%; thirdly, it can be seen in hyperplasia of the follicles and adrenal cortex; in addition, hyperinsulinemia can stimulate the ovaries to secrete a large amount of androgen, resulting in hypertestosterone; about 28% are of unknown origin. The reasons for excessive androgen in serum are mostly due to excessive secretion of the ovaries or adrenal cortex; it may also be caused by abnormal peripheral conversion; it is an enzyme system disorder in the biosynthesis of steroid hormones, such as aromatase deficiency, androstenedione cannot be converted into estrone, and testosterone cannot be converted into estradiol, resulting in excessive accumulation of androstenedione, especially testosterone; 60% of testosterone is bound to β-globulin in the blood, called testosterone-estradiol binding globulin (TEBG), about 38% (mainly androstenedione) is bound to albumin, and free testosterone accounts for only 2%, but it is active. What should girls do if their testosterone level is too high? If the level of TEBG combined with estradiol increases and the level of combined testosterone decreases, the free testosterone in the blood will increase; hyperinsulinemia caused by insulin resistance can stimulate the ovaries to secrete a large amount of androgen. In the above article, we introduced a common symptom, that is, high testosterone. We know that there are many reasons for high testosterone, and both men and women may experience this symptom. The above article gives us a detailed introduction on what to do when testosterone is high. |
