What are the clinical manifestations of vulvar eczema?

I believe women all know that their vulva is very susceptible to infection. This is mainly because of the special location of this area, where a large number of bacteria always breed. Generally speaking, the most common disease is vulvar eczema, and patients often confuse it with vaginitis when they are sick. Therefore, it is very necessary to understand the symptoms of eczema. Let’s use the following content to help you understand it.

Vulvar eczema in women mostly occurs on the labia majora and inguinal cleft. The course of the disease is variable in length, the attacks are irregular, and the subjective symptoms are usually not obvious. However, severe itching occurs when going to bed or when one is nervous. The accompanying itching may lead to secondary infection after scratching, resulting in local redness and small pus spots in the center of some rashes. The acute stage of vulvar eczema is mainly manifested by severe itching and diffuse redness of the vulva. The skin lesions are polymorphic without obvious boundaries, and the disease progresses further.

Needle-sized papules, papulovesicles or small blisters appear on the skin surface, with congestion at the base and unclear lesion boundaries, followed by worsening erosion, edema and exudation. Scratching due to burning and severe itching may damage the epidermis, leading to infection and scab formation, which may be accompanied by swollen inguinal lymph nodes, fever and general discomfort. If not treated properly, repeated attacks may prolong the course of the disease and turn it into a chronic disease. In the chronic stage of vulvar eczema, due to repeated scratching, a small amount of serous fluid will exude from the scratched areas. The disease is protracted and does not heal, causing infiltration and hypertrophy in the epidermis and dermis. The skin is rough and may have lichenification. The borders are clear, and there are often bran-like scales on the surface. It is hard to touch or has moist crusts. In severe cases, chapped skin may occur, and there is pain during activity. Due to blood crusts and pigmentation, the skin is brown or depigmented.

These are all clinical manifestations that may be caused by vulvar eczema, so the editor recommends that all female friends must read the article carefully, so that when they find similar reactions, they can make their own judgments and go for vaginal B-ultrasound and other examinations in time. If necessary, they can directly carry out targeted treatment with relevant drugs.
