What's wrong with the bloody leucorrhea?

Leucorrhea has always been hailed as an indicator of female reproductive system health, because if there is any abnormality in leucorrhea, it means that some gynecological diseases may occur. Among the common leucorrhea abnormalities is leucorrhea with blood and odor, so what causes it? What gynecological diseases can cause this symptom? So next I will give you a detailed introduction on why leucorrhea has blood and a bad smell.

Causes of abnormal vaginal discharge:

1. Vulvovaginal candidiasis: The leucorrhea is cottage cheese or tofu dregs-like, the inner labia minora and vaginal mucosa are red and swollen with white pseudomembranes. After removing the membrane, erosion or superficial ulcers appear at the base. In severe cases, the labia minora may be highly edematous and the vulva is obviously itchy. Some patients have a burning sensation when urinating accompanied by frequent urination, dysuria and pain during sexual intercourse. A small number of patients have no obvious symptoms. The diagnosis can be confirmed by finding spores and pseudohyphae under microscopic examination of the leucorrhea fungus.

2. Vaginal trichomoniasis: increased leucorrhea, yellow-green or milky white foamy leucorrhea with a foul odor, severe itching of the vulva and vagina, a feeling of ants crawling, occasional burning and pain, difficulty urinating, frequent urination, urgency, and pain, and the vaginal and cervical mucosa have a strawberry-shaped appearance.

3. Gonorrhea in women: Increased leucorrhea, manifested as yellow-green purulent secretions with a foul odor. Urinary tract infection causes frequent urination, painful urination, and a burning sensation during urination, redness and swelling of the urethral opening, and a small amount of purulent secretions. Cervical infection causes redness, swelling, erosion, and tenderness of the cervix. Bartholin's gland infection causes redness, swelling, and pain at the gland opening, and in severe cases, an abscess may form.

4. Female non-gonococcal urethritis: a sexually transmitted disease mainly caused by Chlamydia trachomatis and Ureaplasma urealyticum. Many female patients have no obvious symptoms, while a few seek medical treatment due to increased vaginal discharge, yellow or bloody color, odor, and vulvar itching. The uterus is the main site of infection. There are no obvious signs of urinary tract irritation. Cervical edema, redness, and erosion, and the hypertrophic follicles on the surface are the unique appearance of this disease.

The above is a detailed introduction to the reasons why leucorrhea has blood and odor. At the same time, it also introduces some symptoms of abnormal leucorrhea caused by other gynecological diseases. From the above introduction, you should be able to draw a conclusion that if there is an abnormality in leucorrhea in your life, it may be caused by certain gynecological diseases, so at this time you must go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
