In addition, during childbirth, pregnant women should pay attention to taking good care of the wound.

How long can I take a shower after a normal delivery?

After giving birth, new mothers will sweat a lot, have lochia, and vaginal wounds. During this recovery period, new mothers need to pay attention to physical hygiene and health care, and should not be limited to traditional concepts and fail to obtain correct medical care. If you had an episiotomy during a normal delivery, you can take some protein powder to help the wound heal quickly. Generally, you can wash your hair and take a bath after the confinement period, which is 12 days. But be careful to control the time well, preferably half an hour, otherwise it is easy to lack of oxygen.

There are fewer complications after natural delivery. The tear wound caused by natural delivery will generally heal within 3-5 days after delivery. The relative recovery speed is faster than that of cesarean section. Generally, the pain will subside in about 1-2 weeks. However, we cannot take chances in medical work. First of all, you need to do a good job of preventing infection: wash with warm water twice a day. To avoid contamination of the wound, do not wipe from back to front after defecation, but from front to back, and clean it again; pay attention to washing sanitary pads frequently to avoid moisture and wetting the wound.

Gynecologists recommend that you use the "warm water sitz bath" method 24 hours after a natural birth, which is a bath in a basin of water with a temperature of about 41℃-43℃. About 3-4 times a day, 10-15 minutes each time, until the wound is healed. During the period when the wound has not healed, washing with warm water will be gentler and less irritating, and can prevent bacteria from entering the uterus with water and causing inflammation.

When the wound becomes swollen, painful, hard, and has purulent secretions when squeezed, antibiotics should be taken under the guidance of a doctor, and the sutures should be removed to facilitate the discharge of pus.

1. When the wound is edematous, the sutures are too tight before they are removed, and the pain persists. You can use 95% alcohol gauze or 50% magnesium sulfate aqueous solution for local hot compress and face compress, twice a day.

2. Some people choose to take a warm bath in 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution twice a day, each time for 10-15 minutes, or use decoction of Chinese herbal medicine for clearing heat, detoxifying, removing toxins and eliminating knots to clean the wound.

3. When lying flat, lift your buttocks higher to facilitate fluid flow back and relieve edema. It is best to eat a residue-free diet within one week after the operation, that is, foods low in fiber, such as milk, to avoid the formation of hard stools that are not conducive to the healing of the perineum wound.
