What causes vaginal bleeding during pregnancy?

Pregnancy is the happiest and most blessed thing for a family, but women will inevitably experience many abnormal symptoms during the process of pregnancy, and vaginal bleeding is one of the common ones. In order to keep both your baby and yourself healthy, please let pregnant mothers and the editor understand why there are symptoms of vaginal bleeding during pregnancy.

If vaginal bleeding occurs during pregnancy, the first thing to do is to understand the cause of the bleeding. Generally speaking, bleeding in early pregnancy is often a precursor to spontaneous abortion, while bleeding in late pregnancy has many causes and is sometimes more serious, so you should be highly vigilant. The main causes of vaginal bleeding in late pregnancy are as follows.

(1) Rupture of varicose veins: In late pregnancy, as the fetus grows, the pelvic veins are compressed, the vaginal venous return is obstructed, and excessive varicose veins cause rupture and bleeding.

(2) Cervical erosion or cervical cancer: In the late pregnancy, women’s resistance is relatively low, and bacterial invasion causes infection, leading to cervical erosion. There is often a small amount of vaginal bleeding, which is usually discharged at the same time as leucorrhea, and is called bloody leucorrhea. Cervical cancer is less common in complicated pregnancies, but persistent vaginal bleeding in the late pregnancy cannot be ignored and pregnant women should undergo necessary examinations.

(4) Placenta previa: Bleeding is usually painless. It may also be placental abruption: the placenta separates from the uterine wall before the fetus is delivered, which is called placental abruption. It is easy to occur in cases of pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome or abdominal impact. Bleeding from placental abruption is often accompanied by obvious abdominal pain and even shock.

(5) Premature birth: Clinical manifestations are similar to those of full-term labor, with irregular contractions, vaginal bleeding, etc.

The above are all possible reasons for vaginal bleeding in pregnant women. Generally speaking, this symptom during pregnancy cannot be ignored. A detailed gynecological examination must be conducted and effective fetal preservation measures or other drug treatments must be taken when necessary. Only in this way can a healthy baby be born.
