There are several types of vaginitis

Vaginitis is a relatively common gynecological disease, which is a general term for inflammation of the vaginal mucosa caused by various factors. Therefore, when vaginal symptoms occur, although you can determine that it is vaginitis, due to the different types of diseases, it is very unwise to blindly use medication to treat it. So, how many types of vaginitis are there? Let’s take a comprehensive look at it below.

① Non-specific vaginitis: There is a feeling of heaviness and burning in the vulva and vagina, a large amount of vaginal epithelium falls off, the vaginal mucosa is congested, and there is obvious tenderness. In severe cases, general fatigue and lower abdominal discomfort may occur, and the amount of leucorrhea may be large and purulent or serous. The outflow of leucorrhea may irritate the urethra, causing frequent urination and painful urination.

② Fungal vaginitis: also called vaginal candidiasis. The prominent symptoms are increased vaginal discharge and severe itching of the vulva and vagina. In severe cases, the patient may be restless and in extreme pain, and may also experience frequent urination, painful urination, and pain during sexual intercourse. The typical symptoms of this disease are white, thick, bean curd-like discharge, severe edema of the vaginal membrane, white flaky films adhering to the membrane, which are easy to peel off, and erosion of the damaged mucosa, which may form shallow ulcers and leave ecchymosis in severe cases. Another type of patient has a large amount of watery or purulent discharge without white flakes, and the vaginal mucosa is moderately red and edematous, without severe itching or burning sensation, and only a feeling of moisture in the vulva. Some patients also have urinary tract irritation symptoms and pain during sexual intercourse; in the acute phase, the amount of leucorrhea increases and appears white, thick and resembling bean curd residue.

③ Trichomonas vaginitis: Leucorrhea increases and is yellow-white, occasionally with yellow-green pus, often foamy and fishy. When the disease is severe, it will be mixed with blood; followed by low back pain, frequent urination, painful urination, vulvar itching, and dull pain in the lower abdomen. The vaginal mucosa is red and swollen, with scattered bleeding spots or strawberry-shaped protrusions, which occasionally cause pain during sexual intercourse.

④ Senile vaginitis: The amount of leucorrhea increases and becomes yellow and watery. When the infection is severe, the discharge may turn into purulent and have a foul odor, and there may occasionally be symptoms of spotting. There is a burning and falling sensation in the vagina, discomfort in the lower abdomen, and frequent and painful urination. The vaginal mucosa is red, slightly edematous, and tender, with scattered punctate or flaky hemorrhages of varying sizes, sometimes accompanied by superficial ulcers.

The above is an introduction to the types of vaginitis. I hope it will be helpful to everyone’s understanding. Vaginitis is a general term for this type of disease. After suffering from vaginitis, you must not blindly use medication for treatment. You must find out the specific pathogenic factors and take targeted measures for treatment. Only in this way can you better treat vaginitis. You must understand this.
