Hysterography is a common examination method to check the patency of bilateral fallopian tubes, and is well known to everyone in infertility or gynecology. Angiography causes little damage, is conducive to practical operation, and is widely used in clinical medicine. However, this small operation was also "battered" by various questions from everyone. Let’s take a look at how the angiography is examined.

How is angiography performed?

The best time for hysterography is 3 to 7 days after the menstrual period is over. Sexual intercourse is strictly prohibited three days before the operation.

An iodine skin allergy test should be done before surgery, and only those with a negative test can undergo angiography. 0.5 mg of atropine can be injected intramuscularly half an hour before surgery. The bladder should be emptied before surgery. For those with constipation, it is best to perform a cleansing enema before surgery to keep the uterus in a normal position.

During the operation, the patient takes the lithotomy position, the private parts, vagina and cervix are disinfected, the cervical tube is filled with contrast agent, the gas is discharged, the cervical tube is placed into the cervical canal along the intrauterine cavity, iodized oil or diatrizoate contrast agent is slowly introduced, and the film is taken.

What should be paid attention to during angiography?

It is best to do the contrast examination within 3 to 7 days after menstruation, try to avoid meals or liquid food, and do a cleansing enema two hours in advance, so that accurate contrast examination results can be obtained. In addition, it is best to do an iodine allergy test early so that angiography can be performed if there is no skin allergy.

After the angiography, you need to be careful not to take a bath or have sexual intercourse within two weeks. You can choose whether to use antibiotics according to the situation. There may be vaginal bleeding within a week. If there is internal bleeding or other complications in the later stage, it is best to see a doctor immediately.
