The child's recent photo reminded netizens to correct his teeth or adenoids

Science Fiction Network reported on April 13 (Qin Yingying) Recently, Huo Siyan posted a recent photo of her son, Huheng, when he was 9 years old. Netizens urged him to get his teeth straightened and said that this was an adenoid face.

The so-called adenoid facies refers to the facial bones development disorder caused by the hypertrophy of adenoids, resulting in elongated jaw, high arched palate, uneven teeth, protruding upper incisors, thick lips, and lack of expression. It can also be called "dementia face". Once formed, it is difficult to recover.

Many preschool children suffer from enlarged adenoids due to long-term mouth breathing, which in turn blocks the nose and causes nasal congestion, affecting smooth breathing and causing snoring, shortness of breath, and restless sleep.

How to judge whether a child has adenoids? Experts in ENT introduce the common features of adenoids: smaller palpebral fissures; wider eye distance; flared nose; shallower nasolabial grooves; thicker lips; shorter upper lip; uneven teeth, with teeth sticking out.

In addition to causing adenoid facies, mouth breathing may also cause frequent dry mouth and respiratory infections. Under normal circumstances, people breathe through their noses, which can filter bacteria and tiny particles in the air to ensure normal breathing. However, when breathing through the mouth, the mouth usually cannot effectively filter bacteria and tiny particles in the air, allowing them to enter the respiratory tract, causing respiratory infections and may also cause coughing. If you breathe through your mouth for a long time, it may also cause the body fluid in your mouth to lose too quickly, which can easily lead to dry mouth.

Therefore, the way to prevent adenoids is to detect and treat them early. If your child has poor hearing or breathes with his mouth open, you must take him to the hospital for a gland examination in time. Normal tonsils will grow to their maximum size at the age of six and then gradually degenerate. If the tonsils develop abnormally, it will cause adenoids hypertrophy. The best way to treat adenoids is surgery. For children over 5 years old who have symptoms of glandular hypertrophy and snoring, the possibility of self-healing is very small. The earlier the surgical treatment, the better the effect.
