AED worth tens of thousands of yuan can be taken out by breaking the window! How to use an automatic external defibrillator?

China Science and Technology News Network, February 22 (Xu Qiqi) According to Jiupai News, on February 20, a man in Luoyang, Henan, placed a semi-automatic external defibrillator that he bought at his own expense in his car, and left his phone number and posted a slogan saying: There is an AED (automatic external defibrillator) in the car, in case of emergency, you can break the window to get it! It is understood that the person involved, Liu Guanghui, is a member of the local rescue team. Liu Guanghui said that at a critical moment, AED can save lives, a car window is worth only a few dollars, and life is priceless.

An automated external defibrillator, also known as an automatic external defibrillator or automatic defibrillator, is a relatively portable medical device. It can automatically analyze the electrocardiogram of patients with cardiac and respiratory arrest and deliver an electric shock when defibrillation (electric shock) is needed. Non-professional medical personnel can also use an automated external defibrillator to rescue patients with sudden cardiac death after learning how to use it.

How to use an automated external defibrillator in dangerous situations?

First, turn on the AED. It should be noted that some AEDs will automatically turn on after opening the cover, while some AEDs need to be turned on manually by pressing the power button. Then follow the voice prompts of the AED.

Ask the patient to lie on his back on a firm surface, and stick the electrode pads to the corresponding positions on the patient's body according to the instructions on the electrode pad diagram. The sticking positions are generally the outside of the left nipple and just below the clavicle on the right upper chest. Then plug the electrode plug into the socket.

After completing the above operations, the AED will start analyzing the patient's heart rate. Do not touch the patient at this time to avoid affecting the analysis results. After the analysis is completed, the AED will give a recommendation on whether the patient needs defibrillation.

If the AED recommends defibrillation, the rescuer needs to manually press the shock button. Note that you cannot touch the patient at this time. If necessary, cardiopulmonary resuscitation can be performed on the patient after the shock is completed.

The American Heart Association's CPR Guidelines point out that the effective combination of CPR and AED in the early stage can provide the best possibility for saving lives. Every minute of early defibrillation can increase the survival rate of CPR by 7-10%. Therefore, it is necessary to learn how to use AED.
