Social Media Examiner: 2022 Social Media Marketing Report

Social Media Examiner has released the "2022 Social Media Marketing Report". It is no longer new that marketers use social media to grow and promote their business. The latest report reveals the benefits of social media marketing for marketers, the most commonly used social media platforms, video marketing, and the use of social advertising.

Here are some of the more interesting findings:

Facebook’s decline: Marketers have been steadily moving away from Facebook since 2019. When asked to select their single most important platform, only 47% of respondents named Facebook, down from 67% in 2018. 13% of marketers said they will reduce their marketing activity on Facebook, and only 41% plan to increase activity on the platform.

Instagram is hot: 79% of marketers use Instagram. It is the second most important social media marketing platform (after Facebook). 61% of marketers plan to increase their Instagram activity in the next 12 months. Instagram is the number one platform marketers want to learn about.

Use of short, looping videos is increasing: Short-form video formats like Reels are growing, with nearly a quarter of marketers saying it’s their most important video format.

Interest in YouTube is high: 67% of marketers plan to increase their use of YouTube videos, and 69% want to learn more about organic video marketing on the platform.

TikTok adoption is growing rapidly: While only 18% of marketers are using TikTok, 37% plan to increase their activity on the platform, and 47% are interested in learning more about TikTok.

Facebook’s dominance remains strong: 90% of marketers use Facebook (followed by Instagram at 79%). 47% of marketers say Facebook is their most important social platform. 70% of marketers use Facebook ads, and 51% of marketers consider Facebook the most important platform for advertising.
