The coronavirus pandemic dented the Indian tablet market in the first quarter of 2020, with a 24% decline from the previous quarter, according to CMR's latest tablet market review for Q1 FY2020. Despite the gloomy market conditions, Lenovo continues to impress with its winning streak, supported by the M series. Supplier Highlights Lenovo continues to maintain its leadership and growth in the region, driven primarily by the healthcare and education sectors. Lenovo's M series has captured the entire tablet market. Its M10 series contributed 20% of the market share for Lenovo. Samsung's market share fell by 12%. Samsung did not launch any new tablets in fiscal 2020. It needs to launch tablets with new and good features to regain market share. Iball regained the third position in fiscal 2020 with an 11% market share, but its total sales fell by 26%. Tablets with 6-7 inch display accounted for 28% of the shipments in India. On the other hand, tablets with 10 inches and above contributed 45% of the shipments. Future Outlook In the second quarter of 2020, with the lockdown in place and economic conditions hampered, CMR believes that tablet supply and consumer demand will face pressure. Tablet shipments are expected to decline by 5-10% in the second quarter of 2020. The tablet market is expected to pick up in the second half of 2020, driven by both B2B and B2C segments. 199IT.com Originally compiled from: CMR. Please do not reprint without authorization |
