Google I/O Developer Conference: Android device activations have reached 900 million

The 2013 Google I/O Developer Conference was held in San Francisco, USA. Sundar Pichai, head of Google Chrome and Android, revealed in his keynote speech that the number of Android device activations has reached 900 million so far. According to Google's public data, the number of Android device activations reached 100 million for the first time in early May 2011. The data disclosed at last year's Google Developer Conference showed that the number of Android device activations reached 400 million, an increase of 300 million in more than a year.

Today, the number of Android device activations has reached 900 million, which means that in the past year, the number of newly added Android devices has reached 500 million, an astonishing growth rate. There is no doubt that Android has become the world's largest mobile operating system.

With the rapid growth in the number of Android device activations, the download data of the Google Play Store has also increased significantly.

Hugo Barra, Google's director of mobile product development, revealed today that the number of APP downloads from the Google Play app store has exceeded 48.5 billion, with 2.5 billion downloads in April alone. The data released at last year's Google I/O developer conference was 20 billion.

The number of downloads from the Google Play Store still lags behind that of the Apple App Store, whose cumulative downloads will exceed 50 billion in the near future.
