Many people are confused

Where do these bruises come from?

Could it be caused by some disease?

today

Let’s talk about it in detail.

How do bruises form?

Medically speaking, bruises are actually capillary rupture and bleeding. The causes of bruises are generally as follows:

1. Trauma. It can occur when the legs, knees, arms, etc. are injured, such as by bumping, kneeling, or being pinched.

2. Disease. If bruises often occur without obvious causes and occur in multiple parts of the body, there may be blood system diseases or other systemic diseases. It is recommended to first check the blood routine and coagulation function, and then go to the hematology department for treatment.

If varicose bleeding causes extensive bruising, emergency pressure should be applied to stop the bleeding, and then a vascular surgeon should be consulted.

3. Medication. Some people need to take antiplatelet and anticoagulant drugs for a long time due to illness, which may cause bleeding, including bruises, cerebral hemorrhage, fundus hemorrhage, nosebleed, gastrointestinal bleeding, etc.

4. Others. Some young women with fair skin may inexplicably develop small bruises on different parts of their body without obvious causes. These bruises are usually asymptomatic and can disappear on their own. In this case, no treatment is usually required. Capillaries are fragile and more prone to bleeding, and with fair skin, bruises will be more obvious.

What should I do if bruises appear?

If you suddenly notice bruises, no special treatment is generally needed. If they occur frequently, you need to go to the hospital for treatment, excluding blood system diseases (hematology) or vascular system diseases (vascular surgery). The following methods can help bruises disappear:

1. Avoid using force and trauma. You can easily bump into the corners of tables and beds at home, and don’t do strength training, which will only aggravate bruises.

2. Apply ice. Apply ice cubes or ice towels to the bruise, which can promote the contraction of capillaries, prevent the bruise from further enlarging, and make the bruise absorb faster.

3. Apply pressure to stop bleeding. If uncontrollable bruising occurs, such as varicose vein rupture in patients with varicose veins, large-scale bruising will appear on the legs or ankles, and it will continue to grow, and some will spurt blood. At this time, you need to immediately use your fingers, gauze or other things to press the bleeding point, and raise the leg. Press for about ten minutes and then slowly wrap it with a bandage, and then go to the hospital immediately.

How to avoid bruises?

1. Try to avoid external injuries, bumps, and intense strength training.

2. If the bruise is caused by a disease, it is necessary to find the cause. It is recommended to go to a regular hospital for treatment, do an examination to make a clear diagnosis, and then receive treatment.

3. If the bruise is caused by medication, you need to contact your attending physician to assess the condition.
