Does the coniferous sunflower need to be topped when cutting? What's the matter with the coniferous sunflower wilting?

Sunflowers are named because they bloom in the sun. They are also very common in daily life. When I was a child, my family used broken pots to plant them. They often bloomed and the colors were very bright. Sunflowers can be grown by cutting branches, so do they need to be topped?

Does the coniferous sunflower cutting need to be topped?

Needs topping.

Choose full branches for cuttings of coniferous sunflowers, not wilted or lacking water. The cutting medium should be loose, fertile and breathable. You can use garden soil containing river sand, or other loose and breathable soil. Cutting depth of more than one centimeter is enough. Then spray water frequently, avoid stagnant water, and roots will grow in a week.

There is another method. You can hydroponically grow longer sunflower branches in a container and soak them in water. White roots will grow there and it will be very easy to plant them again.

After the cuttings survive, remember to pinch and prune the branches more often to encourage them to grow more branches, so that they will bloom more and more. And give them some water-soluble fertilizer or diluted organic fertilizer water to encourage them to bloom large and colorful flowers.

Why is the coniferous sunflower wilting?

Not enough light.

Sunflowers like sunshine and heat, and the daily light time should not be less than 5 hours. Generally, they are placed in a sunny position, with direct sunlight. With sufficient sunlight, they grow luxuriant branches and leaves, bloom early, and have large flowers.

Prune branches in time.

Cut off branches longer than about 10 cm, and the branches and leaves below will grow thicker and taller, making it easier for them to fill the pot.

Supplement nutrients.

Although sunflowers can tolerate poor soil, you should also pay attention to supplementing nutrients. If conditions permit, you can apply some flower fertilizer in the potting soil. If there is no fertilizer, use rice water to water the flowers. Overnight tea can also be used to water the flowers appropriately to supplement nutrients.

Avoid overwatering.

Sunflowers do not need to be watered every day. Too much water will cause root rot. If the soil in the pot is too wet every day, it will not be conducive to its growth.

What kind of fertilizer do sunflowers like?

During the normal growing season, you can supplement it with multi-element fertilizers several times, such as self-fermented organic fertilizers, cake fertilizers, and compound fertilizers. Because its root system is underdeveloped and its absorption is limited, the amount must be small, and thin fertilizers should be applied frequently to allow its roots to feel nourished at all times.

When the buds are forming, you can apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate, once or twice a month. Because its flowers are constantly blooming, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should only be applied after the flowers fall, and some multi-element fertilizers should be applied at intervals to replenish the nutrients consumed by flowering.
