How long does it take to have abdominal pain after hysterectomy

When a woman's uterus has severe malignant diseases, surgical removal should be considered. Hysterectomy is divided into total hysterectomy and subtotal hysterectomy, but no matter which surgery is performed, there will be pain. So, how long does it take for the pain to go away after a hysterotomy?

1. The treatment methods for hysterotomy include general open surgery and minimally invasive surgery under laparoscopy. Because surgical treatment methods are different, the pain conditions after surgery are also different. In particular, patients have different physical fitness and different levels of sensitivity to pain, and the length of pain after surgery will also vary.

2. Generally, the incision of abdominal surgery is longer during laparotomy. Generally, the surface tissue will slowly heal within 7 to 10 days after the operation, but the double-layer suture incision in the abdomen needs to be repaired gradually. Most patients will feel some abdominal soreness and discomfort within one month, and the pain will basically subside after one month. Pay attention to rest during the recovery period, avoid overexertion and stand or walk for a long time.

3. If a minimally invasive hysterotomy is suitable for laparoscopic surgery, there will always be three small incisions left on the patient's abdomen. For most patients, the small incisions can be basically healed within three days after the operation. At this time, there will be no obvious pain on the abdominal surface, but the wounds in the abdomen also need a healing process because of the use of electrocoagulation or suture to promote blood circulation. Generally, there will be no obvious abdominal pain in about 20 days.

After a hysterectomy, the medical care for patients is mainly as follows:

First, help the patient to turn over and move. Turning over as soon as possible after surgery can promote gastrointestinal function, assist ventilation, and prevent the occurrence of venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. The patient can be turned over with the help of relatives within 6 hours after the operation. If the catheter is removed, the patient should be able to move around normally, usually on the first day after the operation.

Second, pay attention to the care of the vulva. Because the vulva is more susceptible to infection and the stump of the cervix is more sensitive, the vulva should be cleaned every day to reduce the chance of infection.

Third, in terms of diet, it is recommended to eat high-protein foods that are lighter in taste and easier to digest and absorb.
