One line is dark and the other is light, does it mean you are pregnant?

Most women use pregnancy test sticks when they suspect they are pregnant. Basically, if there are two red bars, they are sure that they are pregnant. But sometimes the result of the pregnancy test stick is one dark and one light, which is right in between pregnancy and not pregnancy. This makes many women puzzled. Is she pregnant or not? Why does such a situation occur? Generally speaking, if the contrast line is clear and obvious, but the color of the test line is quite dark, this may be pregnancy, but it is not very clear. If you encounter this kind of situation, it is best to test again two days later. If you are still worried, you can go to the hospital for a check-up.

If the pregnancy test stick is one dark and one light, it may be one of the following 4 situations

1. In early pregnancy, HCG is not significant

After the embryo implants, it will produce a small amount of HCG (chorionic gonadotropin). If the pregnancy test is taken too early, the HCG level is still relatively low, which will cause the pregnancy test stick to be one dark and one light. In order to be more accurate, you can test it again two days later, and it is best to test the morning urine.

2. The concentration in urine is not high

The basic principle of the pregnancy test stick is actually to detect HCG in urine to determine whether a woman is pregnant or not. However, if a woman drinks more water the night before, the concentration in her urine will be slightly lower, which will dilute the hormones, resulting in a dark and light urine level during testing. Therefore, it is recommended to test in the morning and not to drink too much water the night before, so that the test results will be more accurate.

3. Ectopic pregnancy

We all know that ectopic pregnancy is the combination of sperm and egg in other places outside the uterus for embryo implantation and development. Under normal circumstances, after a woman becomes pregnant, her growing hair secretes more HCG, and the concentration level continues to rise. But if you have an ectopic pregnancy, HCG will also change, but the increased amount will be smaller. If this is the case, the test results are likely to be one deep and one shallow, so if this is the case for several tests, it is best to go to the hospital for examination to rule out the possibility of ectopic pregnancy.

4. Affected by the disease

Some women may have illnesses, such as uterine cancer, uterine and ovarian diseases, which can cause an increase in HCG in the body. If you use a pregnancy test stick to test, it is also easy to have one dark and one shallow. Some women take hormonal medications, which can also cause such results.
