Right occipital transverse fetal position

Right occipital transverse fetal position

When a pregnant woman is born in the family, the family will be filled with both joy and worry. But sometimes he will also have some strange symptoms, such as right occipital transverse position. Many expectant mothers are not familiar with these terms, so today we will introduce you to the right occipital transverse position. So, what does it mean when the baby is in the right occipital position?

What does it mean when the baby is in the right occipital position?

Fetal position refers to the specific position of the fetus's presenting part in relation to the front, back, left and right of the mother's pelvis. The normal fetal position is mostly occipital anterior. After 30 weeks of pregnancy, during pregnancy check-up, breech position, transverse position, occiput posterior position, and face position were found. This is called transverse position of the fetus, among which breech position is the most common. If the transverse position of the fetus is not corrected, it may lead to dystocia during delivery.

What you think of as right occipital transverse position means that the baby's occipital bone is on the right side of your pelvis. It has something to do with how you choose natural childbirth. The posture of the fetus in the womb before birth is very important, which is related to whether the pregnant woman chooses a normal birth or a difficult birth. We know that the fetus in the uterus is immersed in the amniotic fluid of the pregnant woman. Because the head of the fetus is heavier than the body, the fetus is mostly in the position of head down and buttocks up. The normal fetal position should be that the fetal head is flexed, with the occipital bone in front. During delivery, the head is the first to extend into the pelvis, which is medically called "head first presentation". Delivery in this fetal position is generally smooth. However, some fetuses also have their heads facing down, but their head position changes from flexion to extension or their occipital bone is to the side and back, which is considered a transverse position. For those pregnant women who give birth with their buttocks first (breech presentation), or feet or legs first, or even arms first (transverse presentation), the fetus is also in transverse presentation. This abnormal fetal position is equivalent to setting up an obstacle in the already limited delivery passage of pregnant women, which can easily lead to dystocia.

Among abnormal fetal positions, persistent occiput posterior or occiput transverse position with the fetus's head first presentation is the most common. The main reason for the right occipital transverse position is that the pelvic abnormality or the poor flexion of the fetal head position causes the presenting part of the occipital posterior position to be not close to the cervix and the underside of the uterus, resulting in rotation resistance. The lowering, flexion and rotation of the fetal head can easily lead to a persistent transverse occipital position. Cephalopelvic disproportion and placenta previa can affect the rotation of the fetal head and are also very likely to cause persistent transverse occipital position.

The right occipital horizontal position means that the plate has been entered.

According to reports from various countries, in about 50% of pregnant women, the fetus enters the pelvis in the transverse position, which is the normal position for delivery of head-present pregnant women. The so-called entry into the calving is when pregnancy begins, and the fetus is surrounded by the amniotic fluid and fetal membrane of the pregnant woman, waiting for its opportunity with its head down, buttocks up, and the whole body curled up. Before a pregnant woman gives birth, the first thing the fetus has to do is to move its head through the mother's pelvic cavity into the pelvis so that its body can be pushed forward.
