Folk methods of post-coital contraception

If you don't get pregnant after having sex, you can use some emergency contraceptive methods. Contraceptive methods for sexual intercourse include oral contraceptive pills, oral estrogen receptor antagonists, or emergency placement of an IUD. Contraceptive pills can be used within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. The function of emergency contraception is to inhibit ovulation and cause changes in the natural environment of the uterine cavity, affecting the implantation of the embryo combined with sperm and egg, and has the effect of contraception.

In addition, if mifepristone, an estrogen receptor antagonist, is taken orally within 5 days of sexual intercourse, it can have the effect of killing test tube embryos as a contraceptive measure. If the IUD is inserted within 7 days of sexual intercourse, it can change the natural environment of the uterine cavity which is not conducive to embryo implantation, and can also prevent pregnancy.

There are three methods of emergency contraception after sexual intercourse: the first is oral contraceptives. It is effective to take them within 72 hours. The sooner you take them, the better the effect. However, contraceptives have side effects and should not be taken more than three times within a year. The second method is the reflex contraceptive method, where a couple sees a doctor and has an IUD inserted within five days after sexual intercourse. The third method is relatively simple. After the couple has sex, they can immediately flush the vagina with cold water to clean out the semen. Please note that the success rate of these contraceptive measures is not 100%.

The most effective method of contraception is to take birth control pills. Taking it orally within 72 hours after intercourse can prevent unmarried pregnancy to the greatest extent, with an effectiveness rate of about 99%. The birth control pill comes in packs of two and one. If you take 2 tablets, take one tablet immediately after intercourse and then take another tablet 12 hours later. Generally speaking, it is best to take medicine on an empty stomach or two hours after a meal. It should be noted that taking birth control pills only has a contraceptive effect on previous sexual intercourse, but has no contraceptive effect on the couple's sexual life after taking the pills.
