Does frequent ultrasounds of pregnant women have any effect on the fetus?

B-ultrasound is an important item in prenatal check-up, and several B-ultrasound examinations should be performed during pregnancy. B-ultrasound can clearly display various cross-sectional images of various internal organs and peripheral organs, and can be used to examine the fetus during pregnancy. But while using it in clinical medicine, we can't help but ask: Will B-ultrasound have an impact on the fetus? Let's take a look.

Does frequent B-ultrasound have any effect on the fetus?

From the basic principle analysis, B-ultrasound is ultrasonic transmission, there is no electromagnetic radiation and electromagnetic radiation, it is a sound wave frequency transmission, this kind of sound wave frequency does not cause any harm to body tissues. However, if the sound wave frequency is concentrated in a fixed area and accumulates for a long time, there will be a thermoelectric effect. When this thermoelectric effect reaches a certain level, it may have an adverse effect on body tissues and affect the substances in cells, including chromosomes. Theoretically, high-intensity ultrasound can damage tissues through its high temperature and cavitation effect on tissues. In fact, the B-ultrasound used in medicine is of low intensity, less than 94 mW/dm3, which is harmless to the fetus. So far, there has been no report of fetal deformity caused by B-ultrasound examination. At present, the B-ultrasound examination used in obstetrics departments of various hospitals is safe for fetuses.

Having said that, many people have done experiments in which pregnant women who were preparing for abortion were divided into two groups. One group had an abortion after a B-ultrasound before the operation, and the other group had an abortion more than one week after the B-ultrasound. Pathological findings: The test tube embryos that underwent B-ultrasound had villous hematoma and edema, but the hematoma and edema disappeared after a week. The World Health Organization has clearly stated that ultrasound should only be used when necessary, and the fetus should not be exposed to direct radiation without sufficient reasons. The British Ultrasound Organization has clearly stated that B-ultrasound should not be used as a method for early pregnancy diagnosis.

During the entire pregnancy period, it is necessary to conduct an ultrasound examination once in the early, middle and late stages. However, some people are not clear about the purpose of B-ultrasound. In order to find out the gender of the child, they are willing to go to several hospitals for repeated B-ultrasound examinations. This is not good for maternal and child products.

Many ultrasound experts also remind us that compared with the past, the chances of pregnant women undergoing color ultrasound examinations have continued to increase, and with the continuous improvement of our requirements for the accuracy of color ultrasound examinations, the momentum of obstetric color ultrasound examinations is now 8 times that of more than a decade ago. The so-called "three-dimensional" and "four-dimensional" ultrasound has higher energy than ordinary two-dimensional ultrasound. Some medical institutions also provide services for taking photos or even videos of the fetus, which further increases the exposure time of the fetus to ultrasound. Experts believe that although there is currently no direct evidence that color ultrasound examinations harm the health of the fetus, it is still necessary to minimize the fetus's exposure to ultrasound.
