What does uneven echogenicity of the uterine myometrium mean?

Many women have some gynecological diseases, but the severity of gynecological diseases is different. The state of a woman's uterus has a great impact on the body. For example, some uterine diseases need to be confirmed through examinations, and the examination results indicate uneven echo of the myometrium. This situation is also relatively common in clinical practice. So what does uneven echo of the myometrium mean?

1. Color Doppler ultrasound examination shows uneven echo of the uterine myometrium. The most common cause is adenomyosis, which is caused by the growth of endometrial glands and stroma into the uterine myometrium. Other possible causes include uterine fibroids, endometritis, endometrial hyperplasia, etc. These diseases will affect the changes in menstruation, causing heavier menstrual flow and longer menstrual periods. Adenomyosis is also accompanied by progressively worsening abdominal pain, which can be confirmed by a blood CA test. Regardless of the cause of the uneven echo of the uterine myometrium, it is recommended to actively find the cause and treat it as soon as possible.

2. Uneven myometrial echo is a description of the image characteristics seen during uterine ultrasound examination. The normal uterine base should have a uniform and consistent echo during ultrasound examination. When various organic diseases of the uterus occur, the texture of the basal layer of the uterus will change, which will appear as uneven echoes during ultrasound examination. This is common in diseases such as uterine fibroids and adenomyosis. It may manifest as significantly enhanced or significantly weakened abnormal echoes in the normal uterine myometrium, and the boundaries may or may not be clear. It may protrude outside the uterine outline, into the uterine cavity, or be confined to the myometrium.

3. Under normal circumstances, the echo of the uterine myometrium during B-ultrasound examination should be uniform, which is consistent with the echo of the normal uterine myometrium. If the echo of the myometrium is uneven, it usually means that there is blood flow signal in the myometrium during menstruation. The uneven echo of the myometrium is mostly accompanied by adenomyosis, that is, the uneven echo is caused by endometriosis to the myometrium. Usually there may also be blood flow signals and blood vortices. Also, during the non-menstrual period, due to the presence of adenomyosis, the myometrium undergoes slight cyclical changes, and uneven echo changes may also occur.
