At 38 weeks of pregnancy, vaginal discharge increases. The first consideration is that this is due to the increased estrogen secretion of pregnant women, which causes the blood flow in the private parts and cervix to speed up and the water content in local tissues to increase. This will cause the amount of vaginal discharge to increase than usual, and as the pregnancy months continue to increase, the amount of vaginal discharge will also increase. This situation is generally a normal physiological manifestation and does not require special treatment. However, you also need to be alert to the possibility of water breaking or infection. You need to go to the obstetrics and gynecology department for examination, clear diagnosis, and then targeted treatment.

Vaginal secretions are composed of epithelial cells that fall off the vaginal mucosa, secretions from the sebaceous glands of the labia minora, a large number of vaginal bacilli (scientific name: Gram-positive lactobacilli), a small amount of white blood cells, and more than 20 kinds of microorganisms. Epithelial cells contain "glycogen", which is converted into lactic acid by vaginal lactobacilli, making the vaginal fluid acidic and maintaining the pH value between 3.8 and 4.5. The acidic environment in the vaginal cavity can prevent foreign pathogens from surviving and multiplying.

Precautions

1. On the day of vaginal discharge examination, you should wear clothes that are convenient for examination. A skirt of moderate length is the best choice.

2. The examination time should avoid the menstrual period, and it is best to choose the period between the end of menstruation and before ovulation to undergo the examination.

3. You should take a shower the night before the routine examination of leucorrhea. You should not wash the inside of the vagina within 24 hours before the examination, because this will wash away abnormal secretions and some potential cancer cells that may be detected through biopsy, affecting the doctor's correct diagnosis.
