The right way to stop breastfeeding

Many babies find it very difficult to stop breastfeeding at the beginning. This requires changing the baby's diet and daily lifestyle, which will make it difficult for them to accept this in a short period of time. It is better to proceed step by step to successfully wean the baby. You must give your baby enough patience and confidence, and you can appropriately add some complementary foods to them. Let them slowly accept the complementary foods so that they can be weaned better.

Breastfeeding is not just about the mother feeding the child, it is first and foremost a feeding relationship and a way of raising a child. Similarly, weaning not only changes the child's food intake, but also changes many existing habits in the child's daily life, such as eating, sleeping, and meeting psychological needs. Therefore, when and how to wean, mothers need to consider many aspects before making the appropriate decision.

Natural weaning is a very good choice. But it's not the only good option. It is also good enough for the mother to guide the baby to wean. Breastfeeding mothers should prepare the knowledge of weaning their babies in advance. This is to avoid being in a panic and confused when having to wean the baby suddenly.

Just like breastfeeding is the best option. But it’s not the only option. If the mother knows how to meet her child's need for close attachment in other ways, formula feeding is a good enough choice.

The issue of weaning is a big deal for children and must be taken seriously. Weaning is not only a nutritional change, but more importantly, it means losing the opportunity to suck and snuggle in the mother's arms emotionally. If not handled properly, it will cause significant mental stimulation to the young mind.

Suggested approach

Gradually increase the amount of food 2-3 months before weaning to make weaning a natural process. We should also help children develop good eating habits, such as a reasonable combination of vegetables and meat, teaching them to chew, eat less snacks, etc., to avoid obesity and picky eating in the future. It is normal for some children to eat less after switching to solid food, and you should not use coercion to force them to eat more.

This is often an important reason why children refuse to eat well. Children should eat at regular times and in regular amounts. Do not continue to feed them after they have eaten too much. Do not feed them while they are playing, or parents should show anxiety when they eat little. Be careful to prevent children from refusing to eat as a way of threatening their parents in order to meet their unreasonable demands.
