What are the symptoms of adenomyosis?

(1) Physical signs change with the menstrual cycle

Patients with adenomyosis may have a uterus that appears spherical and enlarged, painful with light pressure and has a hard texture. With the onset of the menstrual cycle, patients may experience significant uterine enlargement, edema and bleeding at the lesion site, and more tenderness than usual.

(2) Secondary dysmenorrhea

The occurrence of dysmenorrhea is a typical symptom of adenomyosis. During menstruation, bleeding from lesions causes increased intra-abdominal pressure in the patient, which stimulates the surrounding smooth muscles to a certain extent, eventually causing spasms and contractions, leading to dysmenorrhea.

(3) Menstrual disorders

After the onset of adenomyosis, the patient's menstrual cycle will be significantly prolonged, and the menstrual volume will also increase significantly; in addition, some patients will experience sexual intercourse pain, which is caused by the collision of the cervix during sexual intercourse.
