Sour mouth after pregnancy

Sour mouth after pregnancy

After pregnancy, pregnant women will experience many symptoms due to the effects of hormones in the body. These symptoms are collectively referred to as pregnancy reactions. If pregnant women feel sour mouth, a big reason is that hormones stimulate the gastric mucosa and cause gastric acid to flow up. The feeling of sour mouth is actually a normal phenomenon, so pregnant women can only improve this problem by eating food, such as eating more sweets. Let’s take a closer look at the reasons why your mouth feels sore during pregnancy.

In fact, pregnant women feel sour in their mouths, which is also a kind of pregnancy reaction. The specific degree of sourness depends on the personal situation of the pregnant woman. Some pregnant women may get over it in a week or two, while others may have to persist for three to five months. Usually, the sour mouth at this time does not need treatment and can only be treated through food.

As for the reason why pregnant women feel sour in their mouths, most of them are caused by acid reflux. Acid reflux is medically called reflux, which means that gastric acid in the stomach flows upward into the esophagus. This will cause a strong sour taste in the mouth and stimulate the tongue to always secrete saliva. Therefore, pregnant women will feel more saliva in their mouths and a faint sour smell.

The main cause of stomach acid is the endocrine changes after pregnancy. After pregnancy, the body of the pregnant woman will secrete a substance called human chorionic gonadotropin, which will cause some stomach discomfort. This is inevitable, and pregnant mothers can only accept this pregnancy reaction.

What should I do if I feel sour in my mouth during pregnancy?

1. You can try chewing a piece of gum in your mouth. This can avoid the sour smell in your mouth, improve your oral odor, and make you feel less uncomfortable.

2. Pregnant mothers can replace the toothpaste at home, for example, try using mint-flavored toothpaste to remove the sourness in the mouth.

3. When your mouth feels sour, you can try eating a few soda crackers or drinking a few sips of soda water. The neutralization of acid and alkali can also relieve the symptoms of sour mouth.

4. In order to avoid acid reflux, try not to lie down immediately after eating. Stand upright or sit for a while and rest until the food is almost digested.
