Taking painkillers for dysmenorrhea

Taking painkillers for dysmenorrhea

Taking painkillers can temporarily relieve the pain of dysmenorrhea, but you cannot take painkillers for a long time as it will cause dependence on the drugs. Therefore, it is best for female friends not to choose painkillers when they can endure the pain. The painkillers that can be taken during dysmenorrhea include ibuprofen and Xiaotongling. Just take one pill during the dysmenorrhea period. For mild dysmenorrhea, we can use hot compresses or abdominal massage to relieve it.

Taking some professional painkillers for dysmenorrhea will definitely have a certain relieving effect, but you still need to be careful not to rely on drugs to relieve dysmenorrhea for a long time, as it can easily cause adverse effects on the body. When suffering from dysmenorrhea, choose drugs that can inhibit prostaglandin synthase, such as ibuprofen, xiaotongling, etc. This will achieve a more fundamental therapeutic effect on dysmenorrhea. If you take narcotic drugs, although the effect is obvious, it is easy to develop drug resistance and addiction.

Taking painkillers to relieve dysmenorrhea is generally only used when the dysmenorrhea is severe or in an emergency. It is best not to take painkillers every time you have your period. Long-term reliance on medication to relieve dysmenorrhea may result in a situation where no medication is effective and you will have to go to the hospital for injections. It may also cause adverse consequences such as nervous system dysfunction, memory loss, and insomnia. Taking painkillers during dysmenorrhea only treats the symptoms but not the root cause.

Long-term use of painkillers to treat dysmenorrhea can easily lead to dependence, which is not good for human health. There are many causes of dysmenorrhea, which can be divided into primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea. That is, you must figure out whether you have dysmenorrhea since your first menstruation or from a subsequent menstrual period. Dysmenorrhea caused by different reasons also requires different treatments, so it is necessary to examine and determine the cause of dysmenorrhea, and then treat it accordingly. It is recommended that you do not blindly take painkillers to relieve menstrual cramps. If not necessary, use them as little as possible or not at all.
